Fantasy Football 2018: AJ Green Likely to Miss Some Games
By Bill Pivetz
The Cincinnati Bengals and fantasy football owners will likely be without wide receiver AJ Green for a couple of weeks.
The Cincinnati Bengals are a half-game out of first place in the AFC North. They were on a bye week in Week 9 as the Pittsburgh Steelers moved into first after a win over the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals and fantasy football owners may have lost even on a bye as reports say A.J. Green is likely to miss some time.
Green suffered a toe injury in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Katherine Terrell of ESPN wrote that he is likely to “miss some games and is trying to avoid surgery…” However, he will undergo surgery if it’s absolutely necessary.
Green is scheduled to meet with Dr. Robert Anderson to determine what route to go for recovery. If he undergoes surgery, owners should expect Green to be out for the rest of the season.

It sounds like he’s missing Week 10 regardless and possibly Week 11. The Bengals face the high-powered New Orleans Saints next week and the Ravens the following week. Those are two important games for the Bengals if they want to win the division.
The Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers are the next three games on the Bengals schedule.
And, with the fantasy playoffs right around the corner, every win counts for owners. Not having your top wide receiver in these crucial weeks could make the difference between competing for a title or watching from the sidelines.
The Bengals offense has already been taken apart by injuries this season. They are currently without Tyler Eifert, Giovani Bernard, Tyler Kroft, John Ross and Billy Price. Adding Green to the list won’t do anyone any favors.
If you are in need of a replacement wide receiver, Josh Malone will likely be the next man up on the depth chart. Outside of the Cincinnati organization, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Christian Kirk and even Cordarrelle Patterson are worth adding.
Tyler Boyd and C.J. Uzomah should see an increase in targets while Green is out.
Green owners are monitoring the situation with his visit with Dr. Robert Anderson. For the non-Green owners, I’d take the first step in adding any replacement wide receivers available on the waiver wire.
