What’s happening with Black Lightning this Tuesday?
So, this week is a little unique. Well, not really unique, but not like the others. That’s because this Tuesday, the first Tuesday in November, is Election Day. That means everyone who can should be out voting (or should have already voted) and most of the TV coverage that night is focused on the elections and election results.
That’s not exactly conducive to positive audience numbers for television shows, and presumably, whoever the bosses are at The CW, they want to encourage people to go out and fulfill their civic duties. To that end, Black Lightning’s next new episode won’t air until November 13. That episode, called “The Book Blood: Chapter 1” has a suitably macabre title, given the final events of episode 4.
With the Pierce family effectively broken up, and Tobias out of the hands of the police, drama should be on the way. But the promo for the episode focuses mostly on Jefferson and Tobias. Whether this means major drama with the other characters (Anissa, Jennifer, Khalil) will wait for another time, or the network just doesn’t want to give too much away remains to be seen.
The sacrifices Jefferson refers to in the trailer could be a number of things. He could be talking about his first go around as Black Lightning and how it cost him his family. He could be referring to the current iteration of Black Lightning and what it did to his family. He could be talking about what started happening at Garfield after he resigned. It’s probably a bit of all of them.
In lieu of a new episode this week, The CW will re-air the first episode of season 2, “The Book of Consequences Chapter One: Rise of the Green Light Babies. If you want a little reminder of what to expect in that episode read the recap here.
And don’t forget to go out and vote (if you can)!
