NFL quarterback rankings, Week 10: Matt Ryan is playing insanely well
Terry Bradshaw Division
8. Jared Goff (LW: 7)
Goff finally suffered his first defeat of the season on Sunday, although he played terrifically in the loss. All told, the Rams quarterback has been a maestro from the pocket all year, totaling a league-best 9.61 yards per attempt with 2,916 yards and 20 touchdowns. So why is he so low? Because Goff has so much talent around him including, a savant at head coach and the best running back in football. One wonders if he’d be this good in even a situation that was merely solid.
7. Russell Wilson (LW: 5)
Wilson had a rough day on Sunday, taking a few sacks well behind the line of scrimmage despite being afforded time in the pocket. He was also rancid in the hurry-up drill, but that doesn’t diminish the overall great play he’s put on tape this season. With almost no help around him, the Seahawks are 4-4 because Wilson has 18 touchdown passes while completing two-thirds of his throws.
6. Matt Ryan (LW: 8)
Ryan is incredibly underrated this season for the job he’s done in Atlanta. The Falcons have dealt with a bevy of short and long-term injuries, and yet the veteran from Boston College has amassed 2,685 yards with 19 touchdowns against only three interceptions. If Atlanta gets back into the playoffs after a 1-4 start, Ryan deserves to be in the MVP conversation.
5. Philip Rivers (LW: 6)
Is this finally the year that Rivers and the Chargers go to the Super Bowl? Seems like a tall order, but Los Angeles is 6-2 and playing the Cardinals, Broncos and Raiders over the next three weeks. Rivers should also be in the MVP discussion thanks to 2,236 yards and 19 touchdowns with three picks.
