After settling for a hard fought 1-1 draw at Arsenal over the weekend in Premier League action, Liverpool will look to take all three points as the Reds visit Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday evening in an important Group C matchup in the Champions League.
Liverpool supporters will hope that the Reds can duplicate the form from their matchup against the Serbian club two weeks ago in the Champions League as Mohamed Salah led the Reds with a brace in a convincing 4-0 win at Anfield.
With Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita continuing to nurse injuries, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp may look to give Adam Lallana or Xherdan Shaqiri the start in midfield.
Shaqiri would be a potentially controversial decision as Red Star fans are still fuming about the Swiss international’s goal celebration against Serbia at the World Cup in which he put his hands together to form a symbol from the Albanian flag.
Shaqiri was born to Kosovan-Albanian parents in the former Yugoslavia. Klopp may not want to give the expected sell-out crowd any more fuel in what should already be a heated contest with Red Star needing to get a result.
Red Star comes into the match following three straight victories in the Serbian SuperLiga, with the most recent victory coming on the road on Saturday at Proleter Novi Sad by a 2-0 scoreline.
The Serbian champions will hope that their supporters will make a difference on Tuesday evening and help them get a positive result to make some noise in a highly competitive Champions League Group C which also consists of Italian power Napoli and French champions PSG.
