2. Fresno State Bulldogs (MWC) 8-1

The Bulldogs continued their dominant ways in Week 10, disposing of UNLV 48-3. They also move up in the national rankings, to 16 and 17 in the AP and Coaches’ polls, respectively.

The Rebels weren’t much of a match for Fresno State. Marcus McMaryion threw for 274 yards and a pair of scores. It was a touchdown party in Las Vegas. Six different players crossed the goal line for the Bulldogs’ six touchdowns.

If you need a Friday night football fix with many high school seasons over, there’s a good Mountain West battle on ESPN2 this week as Fresno St. visits Boise.

Up next: Friday at Boise State.

1. Central Florida Knights (AAC) 8-0

UCF got McKenzie Milton back after missing the previous game with an undisclosed injury, and it was a good thing they did. The Knights found themselves in a shootout with Temple last Thursday. The teams combined for 1300 yards of offense.

Temple quarterback Anthony Russo had 490 himself as he threw for 444 and ran for 46. Milton’s 312 passing yards and Greg McCrae’s 188 yards on the ground helped UCF outlast the Owls 52-40.

Despite the win and the fact that the team hasn’t lost in the last two seasons, they dropped two spots in both national polls after last week. Part of the reason is other teams that won pushed the Knights down. It may also be voters are basing their opinions on the College Football Playoff rankings, which debuted last week, and had the Knights at 12.

If the team remains undefeated, it would be a massive disappointment if they are left out of the CFP for the second straight season.
