Welcome to this edition of PGA DFS Golf FanDuel Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for this weekend’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.

In this article, I will present to you some PGA DFS Golf players to consider for FanDuel, for this weeks Maykoba Golf Classic at El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. These picks will be broken down into three price tiers. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP. Some of course will also technically qualify as both.

As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in. I will give two players to target from the $11K-$13K, two targets from the $9K-$11K range, and two from the $7-9K range.

One new addition to the targets this week. As I have been doing with my NBA articles, I will add a “Sample Lineup” at the very end of the article. This will be a sample lineup based off the targets in this article. It will be balanced, and geared towards cash games.

As always, read the disclaimer above the lineup before just plugging it in, because anything can happen. We just saw a late withdrawal from one of my favorite targets in Eddie Pepperell two weeks ago. By the time I saw it, it was too late for me to make a change.

The Mayakoba Golf Classic has been a part of the PGA Tour since 2007. Played at El Camaleon in beautiful Cancun, Mexico, this course is a short Par-71 that plays at just 6987 yards. A birdie paradise, expect to see winning scores right around -20 this weekend.

Highlighting the field this week in Mexico, is the clear favorite Rickie Fowler. He started the season hot with a T-4 last week, and he comes to El Camaleon looking to redeem himself, after his second place finish last year.

Some other names that I look to contend this week, are the red-hot Gary Woodland, and the also hot Abraham Ancer, who will be playing on home soil. We have a pretty solid field, but the pricing on FanDuel is also pretty solid this week. I have finally narrowed my player pool down and assembled my GPP’s, and I am ready to bring you my targets, so let’s get right to it.

PGA DFS Golf Top Tier Targets: ($11,000 – $13,000)

Rickie Fowler – $12,500 – (Cash/GPP)

In a field like this with one clear-cut stud, other than the struggling Jordan Spieth, Fowler is easily my top target in all formats, as he is the betting favorite to win this week as well. Fowler played his first event of the new FedEx Season, finishing T-4 last week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, guided by a final round 63.

This week Fowler returns to the Mayakoba Classic in Mexico, where he lost by one stroke to eventual and reigning champion Patton Kizzire.

Fowler has notched three straight top-10’s, and unless he completely flops, I see no problems making it four. Fowler is the easy to pick to win this week, which is always a cause for concern, but the recent solid play has me worried quite a bit less than normal.

Gary Woodland – $11,800 – (GPP)

My favorite tournament target in the top-tier, is the aforementioned blazing-hot Gary Woodland. Woodland has started out the new season on a tear, and he returns to the Mayakoba Golf Classic, where he finished second in 2017 behind Pat Perez. This season, it has been three straight top-tens, and he has carded some pretty inpressive cards along the way.

At the CIMB Classic early last month, Woodland tied for fifth, highlighted by a second round eleven-under. He followed that up with a solo second place finish at the CJ Cup, where he combined to shoot -18 the final three rounds.

He was back in action again last week in Vegas at the Shriners, and an impressive eight-under final round led to a T-10 finish. Woodland is probably also cash safe and may end up chalky, but I prefer the consistency to the other options in this price range.

PGA DFS Golf: Mid Tier Targets: ($9,000 – $11,000)

Abraham Ancer – $10,000 – (Cash/GPP)

First thing I should clear up before talking about how Ancer is a solid play, is the fact that I mentioned earlier that Ancer is returning to play on his home soil. Ancer has dual citizenship, and was actually born in the US, in Texas. He was raised in Mexico, but returned to the states to play one season of junior college golf before attending and competing for the University of Oklahoma.

Like Woodland, Ancer also has three tournaments under his belt in the early 2019 season. A final round +8 at the CJ Cup and a T-73 finish is pretty much the only thing preventing him from being as hot as Woodland.

Ancer shot no worse than four-under for for rounds at the CIMB Classic, which was good for a T-5 finish. And last week, he notched another top-5 finish, by tying for fourth at the Shriners, giving him two top-5’s to in three starts to start the FedEx Cup season. He tied for ninth here last year, and is another top play for me in all formats.

Si Woo Kim – $10,100 – (Cash)

The trend of targeting red-hot golfers will continue once again, as the 23-year-old Kim looked pretty impressive last week at the Shriners. He fired four rounds under par, and finished T-15, giving him three straight top-25 finishes.

Like the other targets Woodland and Ancer, Kim played the CIMB Classic, the CJ Cup, and last week at the Shriners Open. His best finish of the three was at the CIMB, where a six-under third round, and a seven-under fourth round led him to a T-10. Also like the other targets, Kim played well here at the Mayakoba Golf Classic last year, finishing in a solo third place.

PGA DFS Golf Low Tier Targets: ($8,000 – $9,000)

JJ Spaun – $9,000 – (Cash)

It was tough to find a true cash play in the bottom tier, but I landed on Spaun as a player who should have some success here at El Camaleon. I think the masses will gravitate towards Keith Mitchell at $9,100 in this range, and instead of fading Fowler at the top, I’ll fade Mitchell instead. Spaun has made four cuts in four tries thus far in the early PGA season, and is coming into Playa del Carmen with back-to-back top-15’s.

He tied for tenth at the CJ Cup, shooting progressively better each round, and followed that up with a T-15 last week at the Shriners Open. Spaun T-14 here last year at Mayakoba, and I think that his solid consistency as of late makes him relatively safe for cash games this week.

Sungjae Im – $8,700 – (GPP)

I was looking for some solid value up and down the 8-9K range, and looking for a golfer or two that really break through and win here. I thought the golfer that best fit that bill, was the 20-year-old South Korean Im, who will be making his first appearance at the Mayakoba.

I’m missed his first cut of the year at the Sanderson Farms Championship two weeks ago, but bounced back quite nicely in Vegas last week at the Shriners Open. I’m fired a solid final round six-under, to move him in a T-15, and give him his second top-15 in four starts this season. This kid is really good, and first win on the PGA tour is likely coming sooner rather than later.
