Valencia vs. Young Boys at the Mestalla on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Valencia are Spain’s draw specialists this season and they’ve carried that habit into European competition, too, tying two of their three games so far. They were lucky even to earn a point against tonight’s opponents in Switzerland a fortnight ago, managing only two shots on target to Young Boys’ seven in a game that ended 1-1.

On Saturday, Valencia again failed to translate a dominant performance into a winning scoreline as they lost 0-1 to Girona, whose goalkeeper Bono was in exceptional form, pulling off nine saves in all. Valencia have only scored four goals in seven matches at the Mestalla this season and their infamously impatient fans jeered them off the pitch at the weekend, so playing at home might not necessarily be much of an advantage for them here.

This is Young Boys’ first appearance in the Champions League group stage, after previously going out in the qualification rounds on numerous occasions. Their realistic ambition coming into the tournament was probably to finish third and thus drop down into the Europa League, and that’s still well within their grasp, as Valencia are just a point above them. Regardless of how things pan out in their remaining matches, they’re already 11 points clear at the top of the Swiss Super League, so there’s every chance Young Boys will be back in the Champions League again next year.
