Predicting where the uncommitted five-star college basketball recruits will play their college basketball next year.
With the college basketball season now underway, in today’s one-and-done era, it’s never too early to look at who the impact freshmen are going to be next year and dive into some college basketball recruiting madness. The Class of 2019 doesn’t have as much clarity at the top as 2018 did with RJ Barrett, but it is definitely the deeper of the two classes. Whereas the current crop of freshmen is wing-heavy, the current group of high school seniors definitely has a lot more options in terms of size.
In recruiting, the biggest factor is getting the best players to sign on the dotted line. Mostly that means going all-in for the five-star recruits. In 2019, there are a total of 25 such players according to 247Sports ratings. Out of that 25, only 10 five-stars are currently uncommitted as of this post. These 10 available players consist of seven of the top ten ranked prospects so there definitely are some game-changers still to be had.
The top three players in the class all have reason to believe that they should hold claim to the number one spot in the rankings–and based on what site you use to get the rankings you’re likely to see a different player sitting atop the list.
For most of these players, a lot of the same school’s are pushing hard to attain their services as the signing window shrinks every day. A who’s who of teams and coaches are doing all that they can to try and get one (or in some cases multiple) of these players to come to their school–given the uproar and chaos that the FBI recruiting scandal has brought to the NCAA it’s best if these schools make sure they follow every rule to a “T” as they court these players.
Recruiting is the way of the world in college basketball and it’s changed in recent years with Kentucky’s John Calipari embracing the one-and-done era, and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski is now doing the same after signing the nation’s top class that featured the No. 1, 2 and 3 recruits.
Of course, Kentucky and Duke figure to be big players for the nation’s top uncommitted five-star recruits as the competition for the top talents intentifies over the next few months.
