NHL DFS Man Advantage Thursday November 8th 2018
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Thursday night November 8th!! Tonight is a pretty big 9 game slate with some low scoring projected point totals. As of this writing there 5 games at 5 1/2 projected goal totals which is going to give us some good options in net tonight.
Looking over the NHL DFS slate there are a few goalies who standout as top options, but even though there are plenty of goaltending options, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a few high scoring games.
We will look to identify what games the top plays and top lines will come from. Let’s get started!!!
NHL DFS Goalies
Martin Jones ($7.4K) is my top choice in net for Thursday against Dallas. Dallas comes in to this game losing 2 straight and 8 goals total in the last 4 games. Jones has won 4 of 5 starts and allowing just 3 goals a game over his last 4 starts. On the season Jones is seeing his SV% finally get back to .900 and his GAA has creeped down to a respectable 2.72.
Another top choice on the night is Devan Dubnyk ($8K) in L.A. to take on the King. Dubnyk has a .930 SV% and a GAA of 2.25. Los Angeles ranks dead last in the league with only 32 goals scored.
My last cash game pick is Corey Crawford as he and the Blackhawks host the Hurricanes. On the season Crawford has a .907 SV% and a 2.92 GAA. Carolina has scored only 4 goals on their last 3 games.
NHL DFS Top Individual Plays
Top Tier:
Connor McDavid ($8K) – McDavid hasn’t been great of late with only 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 but he gets a matchup with the worst team in the league, the Florida Panthers.
Jack Eichel ($7.3K) – Eichel has been an assist machine of late with 7 assists in his last 5 games (1 goal as well in that time) and averaging over 5 FPPG. Eichel is part of the hottest line in hockey right now alongside Jeff Skinner and Jason Pominville
Thomas Chabot ($6.5K) – Chabot has been a pleasant surprise for the Sens, even though it was expected he’d be a top d man in the league, it was not expected so quickly. Over the last 5 games Chabot has 1 goal and 6 assists and is averaging just a tick under 6 FPPG over the last 5
Mid Tier
Jamie Benn ($6.1) – Dallas hasn’t been play well of late, but Jamie Benn has. Benn has 3 goals and an assists in his last 5 games and averaging 4 FPPG over his last 5 as well. Benn has been separated from Tyler Seguin and it has seemed to be working well for Benn.
Max Domi (5.9K) – Max Domi has already equaled his goal total of 9 from last season just 15 games into this season. Domi has definitely hit his stride of late scoring 4 goals and 1 assist over his last 5 games. Domi centers the Habs second line of himself, Jonathan Drouin and Charles Huddon.
Ivan Provorov ($5.1K) – Provorov has 2 goals and an assists in his last 4 games while also averaging 4.75 FPPG in the same 4 games. We know Antti Raanta is on the IR and it looks like Darcy Kuemper will get the start, and after his last start I don’t mind playing a Flyer or 2 against him. Provorov has been playing on the top D pair and on the second PP unit.
Value Tier
Alex Goligoski ($4.7K) – Goligoski has 6 assists and 1 goal in his last 5 games and is averaging over 5 FPPG. Goligoski plays on the Coyotes 2nd D pair and 2nd PP unit.
Nolan Patrick ($4.4K) – In the Flyers last 5 games Patrick has 2 goals and 4 assists. Patrick is centering Jakub Voracek and Oskar Lindblom on the Flyers second line and playing on the 1st PP unit.
Colin White ($3.8K) – Colin White has 3 goals in his last 4 games and is averaging 4 FPPG . White centers the Sens 3rd line and also plays on the first PP unit as well. You can use him with Chabot who I mentioned in the top-tier and Matt Duchene or Mark Stone for a Sens stack against Vegas Thursday.
NHL DFS Top Line Stacks
Chicago 1 – Alex DeBrincat – Jonathan Toews – Dominik Kahun: Chicago’s top line has played the 4th most minutes together as a unit and has scored 9 goals with all three on the ice together.
Vegas 1 – Jonathan Marchessault – William Karlsson – Reilly Smith: Vegas is having a disappointing year compared to the success of last season, but their top line has been the one positive for this team. They rank 1,2, and 4 on the team in points and play the second most minutes in the league as a unit.
Minnesota 1- Zach Parise – Mikko Koivu – Mikael Granlund: Both Parise and Granlund have 13 points on the season and Koivu hasn’t been playing as well as Parise or Granlund, but he has the ability to be a top player and will come real cheap.
San Jose 2 – Timo Meier – Logan Couture – Kevin Labanc: Labanc is replacing the injured Tomas Hertl on the Sharks second line so he is getting an upgrade in ice time but did not see a big price increase in the process.
