The biggest match of the weekend is Der Klassiker between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, while Juventus renew their rivalry with AC Milan.

Bundesliga

After another competitive week of Champions League matches, the game of the season (so far) awaits us Saturday in Germany as matchday 11 will be highlighted by a meeting between defending champions Bayern Munich and current league leaders Borussia Dortmund.

The sides feature some of the best Bundesliga players of the moment: Paco Alcacer, Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus lead BVB, while Bayern’s James Rodriguez, Robert Lewandowski and Douglas Costa are expected to breathe life into a new Klassiker chapter.

Dortmund are in first place with 24 points, while Bayern are four points back, tied in second place along with Borussia Monchengladbach. A Bayern win will keep the title race close, but a BVB victory could very well be the start of a championship run for them.

After losing to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this week, BVB must bounce back from their first defeat of the season.

“Losing is a new situation, but we knew it would be a very intense week with Atletico and Bayern – now we have to bounce back,” said midfielder Mario Goezte.

In other games: Monchengladbach takes on Werder Bremen on Saturday, while struggling Schalke play the following day against Eintracht Frankurt.

Serie A

Juventus continue to fly high on all fronts, but can the Bianconeri lose this weekend against a surging AC Milan?

It’s a very real possibility, or at least raises the specter of a competitive game for neutrals, when the sides clash Sunday at the famed San Siro Stadium. The game will feature an in-form Cristiano Ronaldo taking on the Rossoneri‘s Gonzalo Higuain, who is coming back from injury.

Inter Milan and Napoli, who are tied for second in the league, play on the road against Atalanta and Genoa, respectively.

In other games to keep an eye on Lazio host Sassuolo on Sunday, while Roma tackle Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico.

La Liga

League leaders Barcelona play Real Betis at the Camp Nou on Sunday in the hopes of increasing their lead against second-place Espanyol. Barca, who are still without Lionel Messi, have held up well without the Argentine ace in the lineup, but still need to ensure their backline can remain stingy.

The bigger game, however, pits Espanyol against Sevilla, a battle between top four clubs that are separated by just a point, that will also be played on Sunday.

Real Madrid, currently sixth, are looking to build on their improved form under new manager Santiago Solari. They play Sunday at Celta Vigo. It’s a game Real are expected to win, and victory could catapult them into the top four.
