Hey guys! It’s Friday so you know we have to make it a great one. We’re going to dive into this 7 game slate and see who gets the “Lock” tag tonight! Lets dive in!

Fantasy Basketball Lock Plays: Point Guard

Trae Young vs. Detroit Pistons

Salary: $7,300

Coming into tonight’s game, Trae Young is averaging 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 8 assist per game and is facing the Detroit Pistons, who rank 25th against Point Guards. In his rookie season, Young is already being relied on as a main scorer and young leader of the team as there really isn’t anyone else there to help him besides Kent “Chance The Rapper” Bazemore who is too streaky.

In his past five games, Young has scored 31.25, 30.25, 56, 35.25, and 32.75 fantasy points. The Pistons are allowing 22 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assist, and almost 2 steals per game from opposing point guards, giving Trae Young a nice opportunity.

Atlanta also leads the league in possessions per game with 110 while the Detroit Pistons are ranked 6th with 108 possessions per game. This game should be fast pace, giving Trae Young a good opportunity to have a nice outcome.

Fantasy Basketball Lock Plays: Shooting Guard

Victor Oladipo vs. Miami Heat

Salary: $9,000

Being the highest priced Shooting Guard on the slate tonight, Victor Oladip gives us good reason. He gets to face the Miami Heat who are ranked 26th guarding the shooting guard position, allowing 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assist.

On the season, Oladipo is averaging 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 rebounds which is basically what the Heat are allowing. The Pacers have already announced that Bojan Bogdanovic will be out for the night for rest and Miami Heat have announced that Dwayne Wade will also be out due to him and his wife, Gabrielle Union, welcoming their new born child.

With Bogdanovic being out, that gives Oladipo a bump in usage as Darren Collinson will manage the point guard position most likely with Corey Joseph and Tyreke Evans being the back ups. The only other dominant player on the floor for the Pacers is Domantas Sabonis, putting Oladipo in a prime spot.

Fantasy Basketball Lock Plays: Small Forward

Jimmy Butler vs. Sacramento Kings (If he decides to play)

Salary: $8,600

Ranking last versus the Small Forward position, Jimmy Butler could be in a beautiful spot if he decides to play which is frustrating for most of us because Butler has been on it when he does suit up.

Butler is averaging 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assist this season and has only dropped below 30 fantasy points once this season. While the Minnesota Timberwolves are a huge mess as a whole, Butler and Derrick Rose are the two bright spots of the team.

In his last five games, Butler has scored 19.25, 54.5, 32.25, 35.5 and 48.25 fantasy points. On the defensive end, the Sacramento Kings are giving up 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assist to the position.

The Kings are playing at impressive pace this season, ranking 2nd with 109 possessions per game while the Timberwolves are ranked 17th with 105 possessions per game. But this entire lock play depends on Jimmy Butler‘s mood and if he wants to play because he seems to have full control over that decision but if he does, lock him in as this is a prime spot for him.

Fantasy Basketball Lock Plays: Power Forward

Blake Griffin vs. Atlanta Hawks

Salary: $10,000

This play is a salary eater and could make the process of making your line a little difficult but Blake Griffin has a nice match-up versus the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks rank 28th against the Power Forward position, allowing 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assist.

The pace of this game will be quick as the Hawks average 110 possessions per game and the Pistons average 108. Griffin also is averaging a double double on the season with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assist.

Griffin is averaging 50 fantasy points on the season with only dropping below 30 fantasy points once, similar to Jimmy Butler. In his previous five games, Griffin has scored 48.25, 47.25, 66.25, 55.75, and 31.75.

This match-up should be a bounce back game from his unusual 31.75 fantasy points and should be a good one. If deciding between any of the lock plays, do attempt a line with Blake Griffin first before the others.

Fantasy Basketball Lock Plays: Center

Willie Cauley-Stein vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Salary: $6,600

With the second fastest pace this season, the Sacramento Kings and Willie Cauley-Stein have a great match-up against the Minnesota TImberwolves.

Averaging 108 possessions per game, Cauley-Stein has a good chance to do more then his average stat line of 16 points and 8 rebounds. The Timberwolves rank 26th guarding Centers, giving up 25 points and 15 rebounds.

Now Cauley-Stein hasn’t been the most consistent player on the Kings or the NBA but he is playing more aggressive this season, making some of his match-ups look good. With his aggressive style, we know Karl Anthony-Towns doesn’t push back as we’ve seen multiple times, plus he was scared to post up Jimmy Butler in practice during preseason.

With Cauley-Stein’s aggressive style, we could see pure dominance tonight inside the paint. In his past five games, Cauley-Stein has scored 47.25, 32.25, 24.5, 17, and 43.5 fantasy points, showing that he does have his ups and downs still but he’s a young player on a team with a young core.

If the pace is there and if he can get inside Anthony-Towns head, Willie can have a huge game, returning value plus more.
