Welcome to what is a DFS Fantasy Basketball player pool for GPP mass multi entry strategy on both Draftkings and FanDuel. We have a nice 7 game slate to dive in to with tons of potential this evening so let’s get started.

This fantasy basketball picks pool is designed to replace the mindset of using a core of players and then filling in with best fits and value. When selecting a pool of players for an NBA slate, the goal is to limit your pool to about 15% of the players available. This lower pool gives a higher variance while a larger pool field with yield a lower variance.

When determining my pool, I utilize many tools including my projection model as a guide in determining implied value to salary. I also look at minutes and typically only keep players expected to see 28 or more minutes.

I also recommend setting your player pool exposure by selecting 5 to 6 players with an exposure of 60%, your mid level plays at 30 to 50%, value plays at 15 to 25%, and your punts to around 5 to 10%.

Using the csv edit option on both sites is the easiest way to enter in all your lineups once you have generated and here are links on how to do this – Fanduel CSV  Draftkings CSV. The player pool on the following pages will be broken down into tiers – Elite (salary above 9k), Mid-tier (7-9k salary), Value/Pivots (5-7k salary), Punts (salary below 5k), and while based on Draftkings pricing, this is the same pool that will be used on Fanduel.

Fantasy Basketball: DFS FanDuel and DraftKings Elite Salary Plays

On this 7 game slate we see only 8 potential candidates to make the player pool with a salary of 9k and above. The first one I am looking at is Nikola Jokic. He has been horrible lately, even logging only 24 minutes and attempting just one shot 2 nights ago.

He now faces one of the worst defenses against centers this season in the Brooklyn Nets. It is their worst position to defend as they are giving up over 1 fantasy point per minute and are ranked an easy matchup in 5 of 8 categories. Jokic is averaging well over a fantasy point per minute and I expect we will see a bounce back game tonight.

Andre Drummond is another play in this price range that we need to play. He is averaging 19 points and 17 boards a game this season and has scored 58, 63, and 59 Draftkings points in 3 of his last 4 games. He ranks 2nd in usage to only Blake Griffin (also in our pool) but has a 27% total rebound percentage (percentage of available rebounds grabbed by a player while on the court).

The rest of the tier will be rounded out with Blake Griffin and Victor Oladipo. There is a lot of value in other price ranges that make great pivots from the other plays in this salary range.

Fantasy Basketball: DFS FanDuel and DraftKings Mid-Tier Salary Plays

While this is usually my favorite spot to target, tonight I really don’t see an opportunity to seize a leg up. 5 will make the roster here, all on the lower end of the tier. They are Caris LeVert, Josh Richardson,  Jamal Murray,  Trae Young, and Donovan Mitchell.

Although the Indiana Pacers have a top 10 defense,  with Dwayne Wade out and if Goran Dragic sits Miami will need to rely on Richardson to lead the way in scoring. We have seen him go for over 40 fantasy points 4 times this season including 2 of the last 3. If Dragic is out, JRich almost becomes a must.

Fantasy Basketball: DFS FanDuel and DraftKings Value Plays

Tonight, if we are going to finish in the green, it starts here. There is a lot of opportunity to pivot and see returns of 6 and 7x value. I want to highlight my must play here and then give you the rest of the pool as it features more plays than any other tier.

The narrative is simple. Gordon Hayward chose to leave Utah over a year ago and returns to Vivint Smart Home Arena for the first time since his departure. There will be emotions on both sides of the ball and Hayward has admitted to expecting the boos.

NBA players have said that returns to former home courts and getting boos from the fans makes them mad. They say ot makes them go harder on both ends of the court, regardless of how or why they left. It won’t take much for Hayward to pay off 7x on his salary and is worth a roster spot but no more than 15% exposure.

The remainder of the pool includes JJ Redick, Jae Crowder, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, D’Angelo Russell, Reggie Jackson, Gary Harris, Dwight Howard , Buddy Hield, and Derrick Rose.

Fantasy Basketball: CHICAGO, IL – NOVEMBER 02: Myles Turner #33 of the Indiana Pacers celebrates getting a last second black against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on November 2, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. Another area I am not too hot on is play under 5k. As news progresses throughout the day I am sure we will be able to better define this tier so be sure to follow me on Twitter for updates. There is no one I am “in love” with here but I do kind of like Myles Turner and if Paul Millsap sits then Trey Lyles becomes the clear front-runner off this page.

What is interesting here is what Miami has and has not done against opposing centers this season. In 10 games, 4 of those they have held the other team’s starting center to well under their average fantasy point per game production.

This includes LaMarcus Aldridge, Nikola Vucevic, jusuf Nurkic, and Enes Kanter. However, in 5 of the other 6 games, it was the likes of Cody Zeller, Ian Mahinmi, and Alex Len who exceeded their average per game output.

This puts me high on Myles Turner. He is only 4800 on Draftkings and if the trend of allowing the not so elite names to exceed value then I see no reason why Turner cannot reach 33 to 35 fantasy points. I am only looking at Trey Lyles if Millsap sits. If he plays/start then we will need to remove him from the pool and move on.

The rest of the play here are Rondae-Hollis Jefferson, Tyler Johnson (stud IF Dragic is out), Tony Parker, Omari Spellman, Glenn Robinson.
