I really hope you listened to our advice and picked up Cordarelle Patterson and Jeff Heuerman on the Waiver Wire last week. Let’s see what we can find at the bottom of the Waiver Wire barrel this week.

Hello and welcome to another weekly edition of Fantasy CPR’s Waiver Wire Scraps column. Every week after the majority of season-long football league’s waivers have processed we recommend you pick up and stash because they can seriously help your team in the long haul.

I am assuming, that you are still in playoff contention or chasing the #1 pick for next year. Every week when this column is published, I always try to advise all fantasy owners to never give up on your season.

Even if you still haven’t found your first win this year, you can learn a lot through practicing. This will also help show your commissioner your dedication to the league. So please, if you aren’t looking towards the playoffs, please chase a better second half of your season.

If you are looking towards the playoffs, never be content with your team. While you might not want to make too many blockbuster trades, it is important that you always create more opportunities to have a better team than before. Injuries strike fast.

Two things to make sure of:

Always make sure you check who your opponents have dropped, another team owner may have dropped a talented player for a bye week tool.

If you are facing elimination from playoff contention, try to buy wins now. This also means throwing season long value out the door sometimes. You’re team could still be successful in the long run, it’s just important to get you’re head above water first.

Now let’s see what we can find in the bottom of the barrel.

Waiver Wire: Quarterbacks

Josh McCown

McCown is a great pickup, but is an even better DFS play this week with Sam Darnold out. Last year McCown was surprisingly good, posting QB1 numbers until he was injured near the fantasy playoffs.

So, while Sam Darnold is injured, McCown could most certainly prove to be a viable streamer, or bridge quarterback. This is only a recommended move for teams that are absolutely desperate. A move for people in two quarterback leagues or 16+ team leagues.

Josh Rosen

Another Josh makes the column this week and is also a pickup for deeper leagues. Rosen finally showed his talent against the Niners throwing for 252 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 pick. This could be the first of many flashes for Rosen as the Cardinals have a favorable schedule for the rest of the season for a young quarterback. Again, only grab Rosen in deeper, more QB needy leagues.

Waiver Wire: Running Backs

Theo Riddick

Riddick is surprisingly only owned in 19% of ESPN leagues. Riddick has a real shot of being featured considering both Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount dealing with ailments. Riddick also provides a safe floor of around six or seven points already, so it is safe to say that if one of the two backs is off the field, Riddick should see more opportunity.

Kyle Juszczyk

Juszczyk is a special type of fullback who is a great pass catcher. With Breida and Mostert banged up, it is very possible that Juszczyk slides into a larger role as a pass catcher in a Kyle Shanahan offense. Nick Mullens tossing dimes to Juszczyk could potentially be a role to be interested in, depending on how thin you are at running back.

Waiver Wire: Wide Receivers

David Moore

Moore has actually caught a groove in this pass-needy Seattle offense. With 3 straight games with over ten fantasy points in .5 ppr leagues, Moore is someone who definitely isn’t talked about enough. Russel Wilson is an incredible second half of the year candidate, and Moore should continue to benefit from that.

Anthony Miller

Miller was a guy I was high on coming out of the draft and he is starting to find his place in this Bears attack. With Allen Robinson dealing with injury, Miller should see an uptick in targets. I would expect Miller to continue progressing and helping this Bears team over the middle of the field and in short down and distance situations.
