The LSU Tigers continue their season after falling to Alabama as they travel to face Arkansas. Fresh off of their bye week, Arkansas will look to give the Tigers their second loss in a row, and third of the season.

There wasn’t a whole lot that went right vs. Alabama for Ed Orgeron and his LSU Tigers, despite having the home field advantage. Nick Saban and No. 1 Alabama won 29-0 to make it eight straight wins against the Bayou Bengals.

No one thought it would be easy for the Tigers to keep up with what is perhaps one of the best college football teams in history, but there weren’t many that expected the type of game we saw on Saturday night in Death Valley.

The LSU offense was stifled last week, but armed with the steady Joe Burrow hard-running Nick Brossette, they’ll be looking to take advantage of an Arkansas team that let up over 400 yards of offense in their last game against Vanderbilt. The LSU defense was without star linebacker and likely first-round pick Devin White for the first half against the Crimson Tide, and playmakers like White, Greedy Williams, and Grant Delpit will look to be at their best against the Razorbacks this Saturday.

LSU had looked like a real playoff contender this year as, other than a loss to No. 15 Florida on the road, and a tough loss to Alabama, they’d played some excellent games, multiple times sending high seeded teams spiraling downwards. The Tigers now sit at No. 7 overall and will face a tough fight to move back up the standings, after taking their second loss of the season to the perennial championship favorite.

Arkansas, still winless in the SEC, went into their bye-week with heads down after taking a 45-31 loss to Vanderbilt at home. Though they have struggled to win so far this year, they’ve had a lot of success on offense, putting up 30-plus points in seven of their nine games, including a game against the same Alabama defense that held LSU scoreless just last Saturday.

The Razorback offense is led by quarterback Ty Storey, who has completed 104 passes for 1,223 yards, for 15 touchdowns and 15 interceptions so far this season. Anchoring the run game is Sophomore Rakeem Boyd, who has averaged almost 7.5 yards per rush in conference play on 59 carries. He also has caught 18 passes for 154 yards on the year.

If Storey and Boyd can continue to keep the Arkansas offense running as it has in previous games, and the defense can cause enough of a headache for Burrow and the Tigers offense, Arkansas could see positive results coming out of this home game.

The Tigers are heavily favored in this conference matchup, and the way LSU is ranked after their loss last week speaks a lot to the quality of the Alabama team that beat them. They are getting a lot of respect from the oddsmakers this week and going up against an Arkansas team still in search of their first SEC win, it makes sense.

Prediction: LSU is a better football team than what we saw last week, and should take this game. As they keep their eyes on the teams ahead of them, hoping for a loss that could spring them back up the table, their key defense playmakers should be more than enough to allow Burrow and the offense to take the struggling Razorbacks.

Score: LSU 35, Arkansas 17
