Celta Vigo face Real Madrid at Balaidos Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 11. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
After 11 games, Celta Vigo are in the middle of the table with 14 points. Real Madrid have steadied the ship with Santiago Solari replacing Julen Lopetegui. The two clubs meet Sunday in Vigo with both clubs looking to move up the table.
Celta Vigo drew 3-3 with Real Betis in their last game. Maximiliano Gomez came off the bench in the second half to score a brace and give Vigo a 3-2 lead. However, they could not hold onto the lead, conceding a late goal to Betis. The draw was the fifth of the season for Vigo. Celta Vigo have been a strong attacking team, scoring 20 goals but can struggle to defend. Gomez and Iago Aspas have combined for 14 goals this season.
Real Madrid went to the Czech Republic on Wednesday and smashed Viktoria Plzen 5-0. The win was Madrid’s second under Solari after beating Real Valladolid 2-0 last weekend. The win over Valladolid was Real’s first La Liga win since Sept. 22. Madrid cannot afford to drop any more points if they are going to catch Barcelona at the top of the table. Barcelona currently hold a 7 point lead over Madrid. Karim Benzema scored a brace against Plzen and Gareth Bale also scored. The duo have combined for only seven goals in La Liga and will have to keep scoring if Madrid are going to keep winning. Madrid will have to rely on their attack to cover up for their makeshift defense. Sergio Ramos is the only member of the back four that is healthy.
