Judith Grimes brought in the rescued strangers to Alexandria in this week’s The Walking Dead, much to the chagrin of the rest of community’s residents.

This recap continues spoilers from The Walking Dead season 9, episode 6.

Judith Grimes wouldn’t take no for answer, convincing the group to bring the strangers she had rescued from walkers into Alexandria. Michonne was immediately on edge, questioning if they had been checked for weapons properly. Eventually, during an impromptu court session organized by Gabriel, Michonne would barge in and reveal that one of them had been holding a knife secretly and had a type of prison insignia tattoo. This led the community to quickly turn to the side of getting rid of the whole lot.

Siddiq would take one of their injured to the infirmary only to have Magna take his necklace with an attached semi-weapon on it. She’d be told to give it by the rest of her group instead of fighting Michonne’s decision. Magna would go to Michonne’s house later that night with plans to eliminate her from the equation in some fashion until she saw Michonne playing with presumably her son.

She’d then give Michonne another weapon saying she missed one, and she wouldn’t trust her either if she had all this. Judith would then tell Michonne it’s good she still hears Rick and Carl because their voices fade away from her every day. The next day Michonne would decide that even though they can’t stay in Alexandria, they’d take them over to Hilltop, apparently making them someone else’s problem.

Carol and Henry get ambushed by Savior remains

Ezekiel is convinced by Carol that it’s time for Henry to go over to Hilltop, that he doesn’t need to be watched and protected anymore. He reluctantly agrees, and Carol goes with Henry to make the journey but wants to make a side trip first. It’s then The Saviors make their first post-Rick Grimes return on The Walking Dead, led by Jed. Henry hears a woman yelling for help; when he arrives, she says, “My hero,” and pulls a gun on him. Jed wants to spare their lives as Carol once did for him, asking only for their resources. However, when he asks for her marriage ring, Henry attacks Jed, leading Carol to cover him and give her ring to Jed.

Later, Henry would express disappointment in his adopted mother, saying she used to stand for good. Carol tells him he’ll understand when he gets older. In pitch dark night, she arrives to find where The Saviors are hiding and burns them all with a lit match. Jed tries to convince her they’ll never be back to no avail just before. Surprisingly, she doesn’t ask for her ring back before doing it.

The next day as they ride out, they come across a stranger … Daryl! Carol offers a ride on board the carriage and Daryl smiles in acceptance.

Eugene and Rosita get hit by a ‘herd’

The Walking Rom-Com continued with another unexplained relationship with no buildup for Gabriel, this time involving Gabriel and Rosita. The two would decide to look for more survivors by planting a device atop a tower for a better signal. Eugene would do the honors … And also hint to Rosita there might be other options for her romance-wise, hinting at himself. While he planted the device, a herd arrived and Eugene would have no choice but to jump down when the ladder fell. This hurt his knee and he would need a crutch as he and Rosita barely escaped.

The Walking Dead’s first tease of The Whisperers would be revealed as Rosita and Eugene would cover themselves in dirt as the ‘walkers’ were heard whispering, “Where are they?”

Negan and Judith Grimes have a conversation

Judith Grimes tried to get Negan to help her with math homework, when he asked to hear about more material items like the strangers she’d brought in. Eventually, Judith would tell him, “good person, bad person, I need someone who can help me with this,” much to Negan’s smile/laughter. If anyone will let out Negan when the going gets tough, it’ll be Judith.
