November 11th: Monday Night Football DraftKings Showdown Advice
By Chris Brent
Welcome readers of FantasyCPR, tonight we have a Monday Night Football match-up where the New York Giants travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. While both teams have struggled this year, I believe this game is going to be a fun game to watch.
Vegas has the 49ers favored by 3.5-points and with a 45 point game total. Personally I think this game is going to go back and forth with a lot of scoring. Let’s dive into who we are paying for at the captain position tonight.
Monday Night Football: Captain Spot
Monday Night Football: Cash Games
Kendrick Bourne, SF ($3,000):
Bourne is an really good pay down option in cash games today. Generally when building my optimal lineup for showdown slates, I have been paying down and tonight will be no different. With Odell Beckham, Saquan Barkley, George Kittle and the quarterbacks; playing Bourne at the captain position allows you to get all of them.
The worry with Bourne is playing time, with the possibility of them playing Dante Pettis or Trent Taylor. I expect all three of the wide receivers to receive work. however I expect Bourne to see the largest market share of targets coming his way. In the last game Pierre Garcon missing, Bourne played 82% of the 49ers offensive snaps. Bourne is an absolute lock in cash games today at the captain position.
Monday Night Football Tournaments
Marquise Goodwin. SF ($9,600):
I don’t think I’m going to get there in cash games. however in tournaments Goodwin is the absolute break-a-slate like play we need to take down tournaments tonight. In the last game that Pierre Garcon missed, Goodwin played 92% of the 49ers offensive snaps.
The drawback with Marquise Goodwin is he should see a difficult match-up against Janoris Jenkins, however Goodwin only needs one play in order to break this price. Goodwin is not a volume-based play at all as the most catches that he has seen in any game so far this year is four. That makes him completely unplayable in cash games, but in tournaments I’m willing to take a shot.
Monday Night Football: Safe Plays / Tournament Plays
Monday Night Football: Safe
Eli Manning, NYG ($8,600):
The industry hates playing Eli Manning, I would imagine that in this one-game format that Eli Manning is actually going to be fairly popular. How could he not be? Eli Manning actually has been pretty good. In three of the last four games, Manning has thrown for over 300-yards.
The risk with Manning is the simple fact that he turns over the ball at an alarming rate, throwing interceptions in three of his last four games. In one-game slates it’s all about raw points and Manning has a chance to be the highest scoring player on this slate. Manning will be a center-piece in my cash games in tonight’s game.
Saquan Barkely, NYG (12,800):
If you fade Barkely in cash games and probably fair to say if you fade Barkley in tournaments then you are going to lose. Barkley is the safest play on the entire slate today because even if Barkley doesn’t run the ball well, he can get to his expected floor with his pass catching ability.
If he runs the ball well. then we could be looking at a ceiling game for Barkley. Also, if you can make it work I am fine with playing Barkley in the captain spot tonight, but it definitely is not a easy task to pay up for him at captain tonight.
Monday Night Football: Tournament
Trent Taylor, SF ($2,800):
Pay attention to the inactive report leading into the game, as last week Taylor was a healthy coaches decision inactive. But if Taylor is active he could be an interesting tournament play. If you’re forcing me to choose between Taylor and Dante Pettis.
I will take Taylor. However, the projected snap count is still way too low for me. As if the last time Garcon was out is any indication, Taylor is only going to see about 22% of the offensive snaps even with Garcon out. Personally, I will not have a bunch of Taylor, but I will have some of him.
