29. Dallas Mavericks

These jerseys are marketed as “True Maverick” which makes no sense when looking at these uniforms. The Mavericks took the easy way out by doing away with Dallas on the front of their jersey and just having a giant image of their horse logo front and center.

This has no relation to what the city of Dallas is about and it’s somehow a downgrade of last year’s terrible jersey. At least last year’s attempt tried to tie in the city by using a neon green to symbolize the neon green skyline of Dallas. Owner Mark Cuban has hinted at a rebranding for the Mavericks but not until Dirk Nowitzki retires, until that happens Mavericks fans will have to deal with these take on the city of Dallas.

28. Los Angeles Lakers

These are just plain bad. The Lakers are typically very traditional with their purple and gold color scheme which usually looks great on everything but combining purple with black pinstripes is a bad look. If you look closely enough the pinstripes are actually words that read “3X5XShowtime.”

There are touches of Magic Johnson everywhere on the jersey as these are part of the Lakers “Lore Series” meant to honor a different Lakers legend every year, and honestly, if I’m Magic I’d be upset at how these turned out. The black pinstripe just doesn’t pop or is even necessary on a Lakers jersey. They’ve never utilized pinstripes before so this is an odd time to incorporate it. Maybe if they used gold pinstripes it would’ve looked cleaner, but the black blends into the purple so it doesn’t stand out as much.

It’s an odd look for a franchise that usually hits on jersey designs, hopefully, next year they’ll honor Jerry West and bring back the Minneapolis Lakers powder blue uniforms.
