NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Monday November 12
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Monday November 12th, 2018
We are back with another NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes for you daily fantasy players. We at FantasyCPR will have you covered with some snipes for a tonight’s slate. Snipes is back out of a brief hibernation period and ready to bring you some daily plays.
Each post will provide a quick recap of players discussed in previous articles. Success is the clear goal, but it is important to understand our misses as well. See if we can find those trends that work, and areas we can improve.
I know it has been quite some time since my last post, but let’s take a look anyways to see how we did. Below is a recap of Snipes we discussed in the last article.
Nov. 2
Nathan MacKinnon – 2 goals and 1 assist. 8 shots on net and 1 blocked shot.
Alex Galchenyuk – 16:11 time on ice.
Jake Virtanen – 1 shot on goal and 1 hit.
Mikko Rantanen – 3 assists. 2 hits and 1 blocked shot. Led team in ice time 24:44.
Clayton Keller – 1 assist and 1 blocked shot.
Samuel Girard – 1 assist and 1 shot on goal. 1 hit and 2 blocked shots.
Philipp Grubauer – 30 saves and 7 goals against. Lost in overtime.
Antti Raanta – Earned the W with 48 saves and 3 goals against.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Centers
Sebastian Aho Hurricanes ($6,800)
The Canes get another shot at the sputtering Blackhawks at home. The long time coach in Chicago is out and the team is searching for a new identity. In the mean time, Aho gets to center the top line against a very weak Hawks defense and back-up goaltender Cam Ward. Aho leads the team by a large margin in points with 20 on four goals and 16 assists. We should be looking to stack against this Hawks team tonight.
Elias Pettersson Canucks ($7,600)
Pettersson is expensive, but deserving of that price. What I don’t want to happen on this slate is lose to a guy who has only been held pointless only twice this season. He is getting loads of ice time averaging around 18 minutes a game. On Saturday in Buffalo, Pettersson saw 24 minutes of ice. He has 10 goals and seven assists on the season and will look to continue to lead a young and exciting Canucks squad. The Rangers rank 15th in the NHL against opposing centers.
Kevin Hayes Rangers ($4,800)
Hayes is a grinder with a ton of skill. He is on some kind of hot streak right now as well with six assists in the last three games. His slow start to the season is why his FPPG is low at 2.8, but we could see that number start creeping up if he continues this type of play. He is averaging about 19 minutes of ice time per game. Hayes has jumped up to third on the team in points with 11 and third in shots on goal with 41. 12 of those shots have come in those last three games. We won’t be talking about his line mates in this post, but you should feel good about stacking this game as this game could be a shoot out.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Wingers
Micheal Ferland Hurricanes ($6,500)
Ferland plays alongside Aho and rookie Svechnikov, who we’ll get to shortly. He gets time on top power play unit but has done more of his damage at even strength. He leads the team in goals with nine and ranks second on the team in shots on goal with 61. Ferland and this Carolina team thrive in puck control as he has a CF% of 57.1 and a FF% of 59.4.
Andrei Svechnikov Hurricanes ($4,400)
Svechnikov is the cheapest piece of my favorite stack of the night. The rookie should come into the game with confidence after scoring his fourth goal of the season against the Blackhawks last Thursday. It has been a slow start for the #2 overall pick in last years entry draft with only six points in 17 games. At the price DK has him, and line he plays on, it is hard to pass on his ceiling even if the floor is low. The match up is great as Chicago ranks 28th against opposing right wingers.
Nick Schmaltz Blackhawks ($3,400)
Schmaltz has all the talent to be a great NHL player, but it has not seemed to have been unlocked yet. He has seemed to be a bit star struck at times on his own team, deferring to Patrick Kane most often. The Hawks have not been good since the major coaching change. However, Schmaltz is an important part of the second line. The power play unit has not really produced this season, but anytime you get to play on the first PP unit with Kane, Jonathan Toews and Alex DeBrincat, the points could appear. I don’t expect Scott Darling to shut out his former team twice in a row either.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalies
Dougie Hamilton Hurricanes ($5,900)
Hamilton had a quiet game against the Blackhawks the other night, but had a goal in his most recent match up versus the Red Wings. He has four goals and three assists on the season. The points are not necessarily standing out yet, but he has taken the most shots on his team with 72.

The Hawks have struggled clearing the puck away from the goalie on rebounds, and I expect Hamilton to have plenty of opportunities to shoot. Those shots could lead to goals or rebounds that are cleaned up by teammates for an assist.
Neal Pionk Rangers ($5,000)
Pionk had a highlight reel goal the other night going end to end in a 4-4 versus the Canadiens five nights ago. Pionk is up to nine points on the season with three goals and six assists. He is averaging 3.6 FPPG. He had a three game goal streak snapped last night and will look to start a new one on the second night of a back to back.
Pekka Rinne Predators ($8,100)/Juuse Saros Predators ($7,900)
There is no indication of who will start in net for the Predators yet. Make sure to check out my Twitter @RickyOlshansky as I will keep you updated prior to lock time on the Preds starting goalie. This team is playing at such a high level right now that I am comfortable starting either against the Ducks. Rinne is 6-1 with a 1.55 GAA and Saros is 7-2 with a 2.67 GAA. On a small slate you definitely want that win, and this game looks to be our best shot with the lowest goal total at 5.5.
