DraftKings European League Basketball Picks November 15

I am finally back from floating around on a giant luxury raft in the middle of the sea where peculiarly DraftKings wasn’t accessible. Now that I am back on dry land, I am back with the picks after a week off. Where do we go here?

More from DraftKings

We are back with a balanced EuroLeague round with four Thursday and four Friday games. Thursday has some big guard plays, and with Khimki facing the second best guard defense in the league, do we do the unthinkable?

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

Guards:

The unthinkable of course is fading Alexey Shved. Shved has averaged 44.2 DraftKings points per game, so why would we even consider it? Well, the $15,500 price tag is almost a full third of our salary cap. Most times I play Shved without batting an eye, but Real Madrid has been really tough on guards this year. I think I would rather go with Mike James, who has a great matchup against Darussafaka, who has allowed the second most fantasy points to guards. And you save a full $2,500. Nemanja Nedovic has also been ruled out, so the James pivot is an easy decision now.

Nigel Williams-Goss is no longer a value play at the price. I would rather play Vassilis Spanoulis if you play an Olympiacos guard. I would pair one with Kostas Sloukas if fading the top two options.

I am not a big fan of anyone in the middle tier. I like Dee Bost, but the elevated price and the rough matchup has me digging for Mike James’ backcourt mate with Nedovic out. Dairis Bertans put up 21.5 DraftKings points with Nedovic out last game, and he still only sets us back $6,600.

Jaycee Carroll is getting good run lately, but I don’t like the matchup with Khimki. I’m likely avoiding all guards in this game. Stefan Markovic may be the only exception since he is so cheap.

If Janis Strelnieks is back, I am interested at such a low price. Other than that, we are going to have to look for value at forward. Darussafaka has a nice matchup, but none of the guards score with any consistency, making them impossible to predict.

Forwards:

Tornike Shengelia once again looks to be worth the money, but without ample value guards, it makes him hard to pair with either of the top guards. The same is true of Arturas Gudaitis, but I am leaning towards a full on Milan stack against Darussfaka. If I can cram Vladimir Micov in there as well, I will.

Khimki has been weak up front, and Gustavo Ayon has racked up 77 DraftKings points in the last two rounds alone. It is acceptable to fade Gudaitis and ride the hot hand even if you stack the Milan guards.

Alen Omic has played so well that he is still on my radar despite a tougher matchup. He is the best player that Podgorica has, so Omic should get plenty of run. Anthony Randolph is the safer option, but how much of the Madrid frontcourt is going to produce here?

I think I would rather go the other way and use Tony Crocker and Anthony Gill in a stack against Real Madrid. If you think Shved gets kept under wraps, this is the frontcourt stack to consider. Malcolm Thomas is a good way to get exposure without breaking the bank.

Ilimane Diop has played well lately, but I don’t know how much run he will get against a mostly undersized Podgorica squad. If Janis Timma draws another start, he is the value pick to target even in a tougher matchup. Timma is way too cheap if he starts.
