DraftKings PGA: RSM Classic Picks and Analysis
DraftKings PGA: RSM Classic Picks and Analysis
The swing season has been fun, but I think everyone is ready for Tiger to come back. Do not get me wrong, it was cool watching Matt Kuchar take down the field at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Kuchar dominated on and around the greens and was so consistent on his drives and approaches. He deserved to win Sunday, and its hard to root against one of the nicest guys on the PGA Tour. But enough of Mexico, we are back to the States for The RSM Classic and some DraftKings PGA. The last East Coast swing season event will be played at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simon Island, Georgia.
Sea Island Golf Club has hosted this event since 2010 with only one sponsor change. Sea Island has two courses that the golfers will play, The Seaside Course and Plantation Course will host Thursday and Friday, and the cut-makers will try their luck with the Seaside Course again on Saturday and Sunday. Plantation is a short 7,000 yard par-72 that players will be expected to go low on. Seaside is one of the easier courses on the PGA schedule, but can play difficult if the wind is swirling off the Georgia coastline. The seaside course is a shade over 7,000 yards and plays as a par-70. The fairways are wide, the Bermudagrass greens are big, and the strength of this field is very weak. This tournament is totally up for grabs! Rookie Austin Cook (-21) held off JJ Spaun (-17) in the 2017 edition. Do not be afraid to back a long-shot to take home the trophy this week.
One pearl I would like to share about this course is that the SEC Championship is played at the Seaside Course. Cameron Champ and Sam Burns both finished inside the top-10 in the 2017 SEC Championship. 2017 RSM Classic champion Austin Cook (Arkansas) had also played a number of rounds at Seaside during his collegiate career. A healthy percentage of golfers in the field competed in the SEC during their collegiate careers, so do not sleep on the SEC at The RSM this weekend.

DraftKings PGA The RSM Classic Picks
9,500 Russell Henley
Henley has struggled so far this swing season. However, after two straight missed cuts, Henley notched a T29 at Mayakoba. Henley is not currently in his best form, but he is still one of the best golfers in this weak field. Most importantly, Henley is a course horse and has never missed a cut at Sea Island. In 4 PGA attempts, Henley has notched a T10, T6, T4, and T65. Henley is also a Georgia boy and played golf at the University of Georgia.
9,300 Kevin Kisner
There is so much value on the board this week! Kisner is the guy I trust the most to make the cut and have a good showing. There are some red-flags that you should know about: Kisner missed the cut at the Mayakoba Classic, he did not have a great 2018 season, and his long-time caddie will not be on the bag for The RSM. I am willing to overlook all of that. Kisner played golf at the University of Georgia. He has been quoted saying how much he enjoys the layou of this course. And his course history is not too shabby, with a win in 2015 and a T-4 last year. Take the discount and own some Kisner stock.
9,200 Luke List
List is another former SEC golfer that has some experience at Sea Island. Like Kisner, List also missed the cut at the Mayakoba. That sets List up for a perfect bounce-back low-ownership play. List already has a T4 this swing season, just coming up short at the Safeway Open. List has played the RSM twice, finishing with a T13 (2016) and a missed cut (2015).

7,900 Bud Cauley
Despite missing most of last season due to a motor vehicle accident, Cauley is playing this swing season as well as any golfer in this field. The 7 year PGA pro has 3 made cuts with a top-10 at the Shriners. Cauley is yet another SEC product, playing his collegiate career at Alabama. Cauley has played this tournament 6 times, finishing with 3 top 20’s and 3 missed cuts. Cauley was T8 here last year.

7,500 Keith Mitchell
I assume that Mitchell will be popular this week. The kid is a great DK scorer, he is 3/3 made cuts during the swing season, he has Georgia ties golfing at University of Georgia, and he made the cut at this event last year. $7,500 is way too cheap for Keith Mitchell, I will be severely overweight.
7,000 Hudson Swafford
I had a hard time deciding between Sam Burns and Hudson Swafford for the final spot in my article. Burns probably has more upside, but the youngster has been playing like hot garbage this swing season. So I went with Swafford. Hudson is a University of Georgia product, he has 4/4 swing season made cuts, and success at this course. Swafford missed his first two cuts at this event, but has followed it up with a T36 and T25. He will look to continue that trend this week.
