The Toronto Raptors look to rebound from a stunning home loss as they’ll host the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night in Toronto.
The Toronto Raptors were dealt a humbling defeat on their home court on Monday night. Tonight, they’ll get a chance to get back on track when their former head coach brings in his new team.
It will be a night of emotions for Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey, who was the Raptors’ all-time winningest coach until he was unceremoniously fired at the end of last season. He quickly landed back on his feet in Detroit, but the feeling of being back in Toronto for the first time since the firing will feel quite awkward to him.
“It will be different on that side, and I would be disingenuous to say it’s not going to feel funny,” Casey said in an interview with the Globe and Mail.
For Raptors fans, it will also feel funny watching Casey guide his new team to playoff glory. His former team seems to be doing just fine without him, however. Nick Nurse, who was Casey’s assistant for five seasons, has led the Raptors to the best mark in the East at 12-2, but on Monday, they were dealt a stunning home loss — their first — at the hands of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Things won’t get any easier against the Pistons, who are looking to find some continuity in what has, so far, been an up-and-down first season under Casey.
Detroit (6-6) had their brief two-game winning streak snapped by the equally uneven Charlotte Hornets this past Sunday. Andre Drummond had 23 points and 22 rebounds for the Pistons, who were sluggish in the second half, and never recovered.
The Pistons are entering a favorable stretch with just two of their next seven games being on the road.
