NBA FanDuel DFS Targets: Thursday November 15th
Welcome to this edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for tonight’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.
Welcome to the Thursday edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets for NBA DFS. First, I will go over players to target at each position for tonight’s short 3-game main slate, with lock an hour later than normal, at 8:00PM ET.
I will give two targets at each of the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP.
Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.
With NBA DFS, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups. There is so much info that will drop over the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect.
If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.
***Three-game slates are not ideal for cash games. Always scale back your cash game play on shorter slates. These slates are recommended GPP only.***
NBA FanDuel DFS: What To Expect Tonight:
Well I am back personally after a two day absence from NBA. I posted a FanDuel PGA article on Tuesday so I hope you had a chance to check that out and get some games in. Then yesterday, I was all set to write then had one thing after happen on the home front so I missed the big slate! However, I was able to use all of the fantastic free content right here on FantasyCPR, to scratch out some lineups right before lock, and make a few bucks .
With the GOAT Brian Tulloch (@2lockSports) and Dan Palyo @ThunderDanDFS with their fantastic breakdowns, along with Joe Metz’ (@JMetz34) Stacks article, I was easily able to throw together three quick GPP lineups without thinking twice, and at least got a few bucks in play.
Whether you play on FanDuel, DraftKings, or FantasyDraft, when you throw in Mike Marteny’s (@MikeMarteny) DraftKings article, we certainly have you covered here. That doesn’t even include the articles I do for DRAFT, which is my personal favorite site to play on by a long shot. Now go make you sure you give all of us a follow on Twitter if you do not already (the links will open on a new page so you don’t lose your spot), and we will for sure flood your timeline with links to fantastic articles from FantasyCPR, we will even try to be funny once in a while with a Boban or THJ GIF.
Now onto tonight. There isn’t much to be excited at all about, as we have just three games. One thing that is kind of nice, is that fact that all three game totals are really close, ranging from 219.5 for the Spurs/Clippers game, to 222 for the expected blowout in Denver, where the Nuggets are 12-point favorites against the Hawks.
Surprising to me, is that the big game of the night between the Rockets and Warriors, sits at a surprisingly low 220. My guess is that this will be 225 or so before this game starts tonight, so I will be treating this as my top game to target.
With just three games we still have some news to watch, though some tidbits are already decided. One thing we do know, is that Stephen Curry will miss at least one more game, which will give Quinn Cook another start. John Collins for Atlanta is getting close to a return, but is listed as doubtful for this one.
And the last thing of note, is that the Spurs are on the second leg of a back-to-back. Rudy Gay sat last night for rest so should play in this one, but always make sure to check the Spurs lineup. With that being the lone late game, I will have little Spurs exposure. Without further ado, let’s dig in!
NBA FanDuel: Point Guard Targets:
Chris Paul – Houston Rockets – $9,000
Normally on a short slate, and with James Harden healthy, CP3 would not be a target at this steep of a price. However, when you look at the position as a whole tonight, CP3 could actually be a fantastic GPP pivot at a position where the masses are likely to pay down.
Paul has actually been playing quite a bit better since Harden returned surprisingly, especially in his last two games. He notched 46.5 FDP against the Pacers on Sunday with a 26-5-5 stat line, and followed that with 36 FDP with a 21-5-4 game against the Nuggets on Tuesday. I won’t be overly heavy on CP3, but I will have a share, as this is my top game to stack up.
Quinn Cook – Golden State Warriors – $5,800
Cook will likely be pretty chalky here tonight, with the news that Curry will miss at least one more game. He has had a couple of solid games in Curry’s absence, but also struggled a bit in a tough battle against Patrick Beverley defense and the Clippers. My hope is that one rough game will deter a few, but I doubt it.
Cook would probably start on a handful of teams, as his talent was certainly on display against Brooklyn over the weekend, in a game where he dropped 27 points, dished out five assists, and added three rebounds for 41.1 FDP. That was followed by the tough outing against the Clippers. But he was able to bounce back against Atlanta on Tuesday, and approach value once again with a decent 29.8 FDP. He fits will with game stack, so I will be heavy here.
***Value Plays: Jeremy Lin $4,200 – Bryn Forbes $3,700***
NBA FanDuel:Shooting Guard Targets:
James Harden – Houston Rockets – $11,700
If I had to choose between Harden and Kevin Durant, I am slightly leaning Harden. Durant is a very close second, and the best thing about this is I don’t have to choose, as it is fairly easy to roster both tonight. Harden hasn’t quite exploded yet since the injury, but he is coming close. It was a rusty return to the court as Harden went four games before he finally broke 50 FDP, but he has done just that in the last two games, as he looks to be returning to form.
Harden dropped 40 points on the Pacers on Sunday, while adding nine assists and seven rebounds, which was good for his best game in a while, totaling 58.9. That was followed by a 52.5 FDP effort against stingy Gary Harris defense, in which he amassed 22 points and 11 assists. Klay Thompson plays good defense, but I think Harden finally gets past the 60 FDP mark tonight.
Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors – $7,500
Speaking of Thompson, we are sticking right here in this game, as Thompson cannot be ignored either as long Curry is out. My personal opinion is that this price for Thompson is pretty insane considering he is a one-trick pony for the most part. However, he hasn’t scored less than 24 points in the last five games, and is averaging 43.8 FDP over the last two games.
If he can fit in a game stack for me I will have a share, but my gut tells me to spend up elsewhere. Thompson could easily go big here in this match-up, but because he is mostly a points only guy, I don’t think I will take this risk. The value options below are below average, but I think I am paying down.
***Value Plays: Monte Morris $5,200 – Andre Iguodala $3,900***
NBA FanDuel: Small Forward Targets:
Kevin Durant – Golden State Warriors – $11,800
I will eventually get to a target from another game, but it would certainly be foolish to overlook Durant on this slate. With Curry out, and Draymond Green questionable once again, the Warriors will look to Durant to carry the load. This game will likely turn into the Harden/Durant show at some point, and like I said with Harden, there is no reason to fade either.
We all know Durant is a usage machine with Curry out, and he has really been smashing in the last three games. Over that span, he is averaging 56.5 FDP, highlighted by his monster 66.2 FDP outing against the Clippers on Monday. Durant amassed a triple-double in that game, dropping 33 points, with 11 boards, and 10 assists. He is a fantasy point machine, and I wouldn’t fade him here.
Rudy Gay – San Antonio Spurs – $5,600
Gay was on a little heater not too long ago, until a foot injury caused him to miss three games. He double-doubled in three straight at one point, and logged two 40+ FDP games as well in that span. He was rested last night, as the Spurs were blown out by the Suns by 20. It will be interesting if anyone rests tonight or not after that debacle, but Gay should return.
This play is only attractive to me for the price point, and the fact that Gay should have fresh legs with last night off. When you go any lower than this, you have nothing but question marks. Granted, this play is also a question mark, but the possibility for a 35+ FDP game here is not out of the question. The Spurs that do play will likely be a bit sluggish, and Gay has a good opportunity to carry the load with DeMar DeRozan in this one, as the Spurs will face the Clippers.
Again, keep an eye out for early Spurs news if there is any. Backups David Bertans and Jakob Poeltl could become solid value plays should LaMarcus Aldridge get the night off.
***Value Plays: Juancho Hernangomez $4,100 – David Bertans $3,600 (Lock if Aldridge Rests)***
NBA FanDuel: Power Forward Targets:
Montrezl Harrell – Los Angeles Clippers – $7,500
I thought about putting Tobias Harris here, but Harrell has just been on another level as of late, and at $800 cheaper than Harris, and he fit my builds a little better. Of course Harris is scoring option number one for the Clippers, but Harrell has been playing out of his mind as of late, and is earning plenty of center minutes.
It started a couple of weeks ago, when Harrell took it to his old Rockets team twice in three games. He averaged 46.6 FDP in those two, then he saw his minutes reduced a bit for whatever reason. Harrell responded with a 10 point, 12 rebound game in just 25 minutes against the Magic back on November 2nd, and he has been getting consistent minutes since.
Harrell has been fantastic in the last three, averaging 41.87 FDP per game in that span. I like my chances of Harrell going for 40+ FDP much more than Harris, who hasn’t done so since November 1st.
Paul Millsap – Denver Nuggets – $6,200
Revenge anyone? Yeah it’s been a bit, but this counts still right? Especially on a short slate. Anyways, Millsap and the Nuggets will host the 3-11 Hawks, and somehow not yet mentioned in this article, is the fact that center Nikola Jokic is officially a game-time decision. He was quoted as “fine” but nothing has been confirmed to this point. If he should miss this game, Millsap and Lyles become locks in my opinion.
While the veteran Millsap is showing signs of slowing down without a doubt, he can still rap off a huge game now and then. Those games are really few and far between nowadays, as Millsap is averaging just 27.89 FDP per game this season, but he recently had a turn-back-the-clock game against the Bucks on Sunday. He erupted for 25 points in that one, and added eight rebounds and six assists, which was good for his best total of the young season at 49.6 FDP. With not a lot of options, I will have some Millsap at this price point.
***Value Plays: PJ Tucker $4,800 – Trey Lyles $4,600***
NBA FanDuel: Center Targets:
Clint Capela – Houston Rockets – $8,100
I’m pretty sad that BobanSZN is temporarily over, as digging through pictures to post of him and talking about him in general is pretty fun. But it seems Marcin Gortat is back in the picture, and playing Boban over Gortat here would just be silly if you have paid any attention to the Clippers last two games. I’ll move on eventually, but for now… RIP BobanSZN!!

So let’s talk about Capela. He won’t wow you and drop 60 FDP or anything, but you can likely count on him for a double-double in points and rebounds night in and night out, and he averages 36.18 FDP per game. I won’t be touching Nikola Jokic at his price tonight, and I’ll stick with my game stack and hope Capela can get me 40+ FDP. I will however, have a share of Gortat as well.
***Value Play: Marcin Gortat – $3,700***
