1. Luka Doncic

If you’re already sick and tired of people heaping praise onto Doncic, you’re probably in the wrong place. Not only is he the top rookie in this year’s class, but he’s also the best playmaker.

Doncic may not be a point guard in every sense of the word, but Rick Carlisle puts the ball in his rookie’s hands whenever he gets the chance. The Slovenian star’s ability to create shots for himself and others is an absolute marvel to watch.

Ironically, his ability to make difficult shots might actually obscure his terrific passing ability at times. There were legitimate questions about his ability to score coming into the NBA, but no one questioned his ability to pass the ball at a high level. He’s clearly exceeded early expectation when to his own ability to score.

Next. Are the Warriors having trouble in paradise?. dark

If his shooting does start to regress to what many thought would be his mean, expect to see more highlight passes coming out of Doncic’s hands. He may not be the league’s most efficient passer, but he’s got the highest ceiling in this class by a wide margin. It’s not an exaggeration to say Doncic could ascend to LeBron James’ level as a passer.
