NBA FanDuel DFS Targets: Saturday November 17th
Welcome to this edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for tonight’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.
Welcome to the Friday edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets for NBA DFS. First, I will go over players to target at each position for tonight’s eight-game main slate, with a normal lock time of 7:00 PM ET.
I will give two targets at each of the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP.
Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.
With NBA DFS, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups. There is so much info that will drop over the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect.
If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.
NBA FanDuel DFS: What To Expect Tonight:
Last night, we had a solid eight-game slate, which is always plenty to sift through. However, it seems the stars were still somewhat limited, and therefore, the top dogs Anthony Davis and Giannis Antetokounmpo where highly owned. It looks like it should be a completely different story, as we have nine-games, and the stars will be out, as there are plenty of top plays to choose from. We will try to break it all down as always, to get you all set for your Saturday NBA DFS action.
While we have nine games, there are ten total today. The Clippers will face the Nets in Brooklyn, but that game will start an hour earlier than normal lock time at 6:00 ET. It’s always nice to have that extra game, but I would honestly rather have lock time at the same time I am used to everyday, instead of an hour early.
Other squads on that will be on a back-to-back include the Pacers and 76ers, as well as the Kings, who will clash with the Rockets in Houston. Maybe this will finally be the game James Harden goes off? It certainly could be. Houston opened as 12-point favorites in this one, so Vegas is expecting the blow out.
Speaking of blow outs and back-to-backs. One last match-up of note features two teams playing for the second time in two nights. In Chicago, the Bulls will host the Raptors, and the Bulls will be returning home from Milwaukee. The Raptors however, will be making the trek over from Boston where they battled out a close one with the Celtics. There is no line yet as these games are still in action, but it will be interesting to see how much the Raptors will be favored by. This game will look like a DFS fade by all accounts, considering how much we have to work with.
On the injury front, we recently found out Stephen Curry will miss at least three more games, as the Warriors are really starting to struggle without him. The Warriors will be in Dallas to square off with the Mavericks, and are surprisingly only 4.5-point favorites. As far as game-time decisions, the one that sticks out most, is in Phoenix, where the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder could get their All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook back. I am definitely keeping a close eye on this one, If we get news he will return, this is an elite match-up, and he immediately becomes a top GPP play in my opinion.
All in all, this is shaping up to be one of the best looking slates in quite some time. So without further ado, lets get to it!
NBA FanDuel: Point Guard Targets:
Kemba Walker – Charlotte Hornets – $8,800 – (Cash/GPP)
I tend to be a big fan of rostering good players coming off of bad games. Walker was on tear to start the season, but has regressed to the pack a little over the last couple of games. He is coming off of his worst game of the season, as he scored just seven points on 2-16 shooting, and his Hornets lost on the road to the Cavaliers, so my guess is he may get overlooked tonight.
However, Kemba has been one of the more consistent point guards this season, averaging close to 43 FDP per game. He has five games with 50+ FDP this season so far, and two have come against tonight’s opponent the 76ers. In fact, Kemba had his only 60+ FDP game against Philly back on Oct. 27th. I think he may be cash safe tonight, but I will save this play for tournaments, as there are just so many studs in play tonight.
Lonzo Ball – Los Angeles Lakers – $5,600 – (Cash)
Just when the Lakers are starting to figure it all out, they find out PG Rajon Rondo will miss 3-5 weeks with a broken hand. I don’t think this injury will do anything to mess up any chemistry, but I do think this means more minutes for the sophomore Ball.
Ball shooting struggles are well noted, but he doesn’t have to score really at all to put up an efficient stat line. His minutes have been all over the place this season which makes it hard to predict what will happen. Ball played 32 minutes against the Blazers in the last one, but that was just the 5th time in 14 games that he exceeded the 30 minute mark. With the injury to Rondo however, Ball should see plenty of run, and he has a solid match-up against the Magic.
***Value Plays: JJ Barea $4,400 – Jeremy Lin $4,200***
NBA FanDuel: Shooting Guard Targets:
James Harden – Houston Rockets – $11,800 – (GPP)
Just when it looked the Beard was poised to break out after a couple of 50+ FDP games with some balanced production, he pretty much went out and laid an egg againt the Warriors last time out, barely exceeding 40 FDP. Harden became a one-trick pony in that one, as he scored 27 real-life points, but only added three assists and three rebounds.
We all know Harden is a stud and capable of the huge 70+ FDP games, and that is why is salary is so high. However, on a loaded slate like this, he will likely get overlooked. While everyone tries to fit AD and LeBron in their lineups, Harden has a serious shot at a ceiling game in this one. The Rockets will face one of the fastest paced teams in the league in the Kings, who will be rolling into Houston after an eight point loss in Memphis last night. This is a sneaky good spot for Harden, and he could end up a solid GPP pivot tonight.
Monte Morris – Denver Nuggets – $5,200 – (Cash)
After starting 9-1, the Nuggets lost four games in a row, before righting the ship on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks. The losing streak or possibly the behavior of Jamal Murray caused a little shake up, which resulted in Morris cracking the starting lineup, after putting together a few decent games himself. He didn’t do much with the start, as he scored just 16.4 FDP, and the hope here is that he returns to his bench role.
It was noted that normal starting PG Murray was being disciplined for violating a team rule, so my guess is that Morris does in fact return to his role leading the second unit. Prior to the Hawks game and the start, in the previous three games Morris was averaging right around 27 FDP per game. He should be a solid source of salary relief this evening.
***Value Plays: Terrence Ross $5,100 – Josh Hart $4,400***
NBA FanDuel: Small Forward Targets:
LeBron James – Los Angeles Lakers – $12,100 – (Cash/GPP)
Vintage King James was on display on Wednesday, as the new look Lakers held off the Blazers 126-117 at Staples Center. LBJ had easily his best game with his new squad, as he put up quite the incredible stat line. 44 points, 10 boards and nine assists to be exact, which was good for a slate breaking 77.5 FDP.
This is by far the most loaded position of the night, with Durant and PG13 also in action, but I will likely be spending all the way up for James here in all formats. KD has a semi tough match-up with the Mavs in Dallas, and the value on George is yet to be determined until we know the status of Westbrook. Therefore, give me James in all formats, as I think this Lakers/Magic game will be one of the best to target tonight.
TJ Warren – Phoenix Suns – $6,900 – (GPP)
Warren is shooting the lights out lately, and even with the return of Devin Booker recently, this Suns team has really been led by the 25-year-old Warren over the last four games. The minutes have been in the high 30’s to low 40’s, and he has scored at least 36.2 FDP per game in that span. That 36.2 FDP game was against the Thunder in OKC, and tonight we see the rematch of that match-up, but this time in Phoenix.
In the Suns last game, Warren notched 27 points against the Spurs on Wednesday, leading all scorers, and leading his team to 20-point victory. There are a ton of ways to go tonight at a loaded small forward position, but Warren certainly deserves a look with his recent play.
***Value Plays: Tyreke Evans $4,200 – Juancho Hernangomez $4,100***
NBA FanDuel: Power Forward Targets:
Anthony Davis – New Orleans Pelicans – $12,800 – (Cash)
Much like King James was in rare form his last time out, Davis really picked things up in the second half last night, and ended up having a huge night. It was kind of a slow start for the Pelicans, as they had to rally back hard and score 41 points in the 4th quarter to pull out a victory at home against the Knicks.
Davis was incredible down the stretch, and amassed 43 points with 17 rebounds, on his way to a massive 74.9 FDP. That marked The Brows’ fourth 70+ FDP game in just 12 played this season. Only thing to worry about here, is that he is yet to play on a back-to-back this season, and it will be interesting to see if he is held out tonight. The Pelicans will need their big man tonight against the Nuggets, so my guess is he goes. Keep an eye on the news today though, because the odds he rests here are probably 50/50 at best. If he is all systems go, it is hard not to think he is the top play of the night.
Paul Millsap – Denver Nuggets – $6,300 – (GPP)
Millsap found himself in this article the other day on a revenge narrative against his old team and did not disappoint. I love attacking the revenge games, and if you think there is nothing to them, use this example right here. Millsap did have a recent solid game against the Bucks so that helped the cause, but 53.3 FDP against your former team in just 24 minutes of action is pretty damn special. However, I don’t expect to see this night in and night out from the veteran.
The Nuggets have a pretty loaded frontcourt, and I don’t think we see the minutes for Millsap get up near the mid-30’s again any time soon, but he has proven that he still can put together a solid stat line, and help Denver win ball games. This should be a battle tonight with the Pelicans, and they will need all of their bigs against Davis should he go.
***Value Plays – Jerami Grant $5,600 – Trey Lyles $4,600***
NBA FanDuel: Center Targets:
Nikola Vucevic – Orlando Magic – $8,600
Our last target of the day is Orlando big man Nikola Vucevic, Vucci Mane has been a solid over a four game stretch, and that should continue as he battles with Javale McGee and the Lakers tonight. On a night where the focus was on Jimmy Butler‘s 76ers debut on Wednesday, Vucevic instead was the story, as he dropped 30 points and grabbed eight boards, en route to 50.6 FDP.

It was surprisingly only the second time Vuc has passed the 50 FDP point this season, but the average of 41.6 FDP per game is still solid. If he gets big minutes against the Lakers tonight, I expect big things. Target this Lakers/Magic game!
