Urban Meyer looked absolutely unwell during Ohio State’s game vs. Maryland and I wonder if his health could force him to take time away from coaching.
Urban Meyer’s health was the subject of concern for college football fans and media during Ohio State’s game with Maryland.
ABC cameras focused on Meyer after nearly every play, and especially after every Ohio State turnover, penalty and incomplete pass. Meyer looked to be under duress throughout the game as the Buckeyes struggled with the Terrapins and raised concerns from those watching from home.
Meyer has admitted earlier this season that he’s got a cyst on his brain that previously required a procedure and is cause for headaches. He said he’s fine though and it wouldn’t jeopardize his status as the head coach of the Buckeyes.
Watching him bent over at the waist and appearing in pain or a state of misery was the biggest takeaway of a game that carried over onto Twitter. I know many have their opinions about Meyer as a coach and as a person, but regardless of what you think about him, I don’t think anyone is rooting for him to be unhealthy.
Concerns from college football Twitter accounts and media personalities expressed concern about Meyer’s well-being as the Buckeyes tried to make a comeback vs. the Terps.

Urban Meyer doesn’t look right every time they show him on the sideline. All jokes aside, his brain might break today.

Urban Meyer really doesn't look good. I know people have an opinion on him one way or the other ... but I really do hope he is ok.

ABC zeroing in on Urban on the sidelines. Indications that he might not be well but it's really hard to tell. Bent over at the waist, hanging head. Not sure.

It is so hard to watch Ohio State without a real concern for Urban Meyer’s health. Serious concern #OSUvMD @JOXRoundtable #JOXCity pic.twitter.com/GXxCgstvQZ

Is Urban Meyer going to make it to the Michigan game? I’m hurting just watching his agony.

Rich Eisen points out that Meyer’s condition is affecting his decision-making. His challenge of an incomplete pass resulted in a touchdown for Maryland.
Urban just called a timeout to review a catch ruled out at the one hoping for an overturn and instead turned it into a catch for a touchdown.

We’re all playing doctor from our couches as we watch this game, so we have to be careful making any big proclamations, but if I’m in the media room after this game, one of my first questions to Meyer is about how health. Everyone was talking and noticing it so it can’t just be brushed aside with a quick answer.
Meyer previously resigned at Florida when he took a leave of absence after experiencing chest pains and dehydration. He resigned one year later and took the year off before accepting the Ohio State job in 2011.
I hope Meyer’s health is really in order and this pain and misery shown during the game was just a physical demonstration of his frustration with the way the game was going and not a sign of something much more concerning.

Meyer appeared to be totally fine though when Ohio State tied the game and ended up winning in overtime, so perhaps this ailment only affects Meyer when Ohio State plays poorly.
Tom Luginbill asked Meyer how he feels after the game and he said, “I’m feeling just a W and glad Buckeye Nation is here to support us.”
