Week 12 of the college football season is in the books and while the AP Top 25 isn’t the most important poll, it’s a close preview of the playoff rankings.

The college football season is flying by and we are already headed into the final week of the regular season with conference title games on the horizon. Despite the AP Top 25 moving into the background, it’s a good indication of where teams may end up in Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings.

We could see some new teams jump into the AP Top 25 such as Army or even Pat Narduzzi’s Pitt Panthers who started the season as one of the laughing stocks of college football — my how the tables have turned.

Here’s what the Week 13 AP Top 25 could look like Sunday afternoon.

  1. Alabama
  2. Clemson
  3. Notre Dame
  4. Michigan
  5. Georgia
  6. Oklahoma
  7. Washington State
  8. UCF
  9. LSU
  10. Ohio State
  11. Texas
  12. Utah State
  13. Florida
  14. West Virginia
  15. Penn State
  16. Washington
  17. Utah
  18. Kentucky
  19. Boise State
  20. Northwestern
  21. Mississippi State
  22. Syracuse
  23. NC State
  24. Iowa State
  25. Pittsburgh

It was an interesting day during a weekend that was expected to be relatively surprise-free. Ohio State nearly faltered at Maryland and proved that it may not be worthy of playoff consideration. Michigan looks to be the only team from the Big Ten with a realistic chance to make the playoff.

Alabama remains No. 1 and will be there until they lose a game. Even if the Tide did lose a game this season, you’d have to really convince me that they aren’t the best team in college football — it’d be a tough debate.

Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia and Oklahoma rounded out the top-six by taking care of business, though the Wolverines struggled a bit with Indiana and the Sooners’ defense was less than impressive against Kansas.

The 2018 season is coming to a close as we enter the final week of the regular season, but who do you think should see the biggest jump in this week’s AP Top 25?
