The college football season is headed into Week 13 and the AP Top 25 has been released. Which teams come away as the biggest winners and losers?
We are entering the last week of the 2018 college football season. Just saying that out loud sounds weird as it seems like just yesterday the season was kicking off.
It’s the final week of the regular season and the latest AP Top 25 could set up some impressive ranked matchups between rivals — the headliner being Michigan and Ohio State for the Big Ten title and a spot in the College Football Playoff, potentially.
The latest rankings saw plenty of movement after a wild week. Oklahoma State pulled off a shocking upset of West Virginia, likely ending the Mountaineers’ hopes. Ohio State nearly fell at Maryland, Michigan struggled with Indiana. Notre Dame smacked a ranked Syracuse team and Alabama and Clemson were, well, Alabama and Clemson-like.
Take a look at the latest edition of the AP Top 25 as we enter the final week of the regular season. There are some new teams to make the cut while others have dropped out. The winners and losers were relatively clear and no one expected this type of movement in an “off” week for scheduling.

Who deserves the distinction of biggest winners? You’d have to go with a team like Notre Dame who held strong at No. 3, proving it belongs in that spot with a blowout win over Syracuse. Army and Pittsburgh jumped into the rankings for the first time this season at Nos. 23 and 24, respectively, so they, too, must be considered big winners.
As for losers, Iowa State dropped all the way to No. 25, West Virginia is down to No. 12 and Syracuse dropped to No. 19 in this week’s poll.
This could be a good indication of what Tuesday’s playoff rankings might look like, but where will the committee place UCF?
