Germany vs. Netherlands live stream: Watch UEFA Nations League online
By Warren Pegg
Germany face Netherlands at the Veltins Arena on Monday, Nov. 19. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Despite Germany’s awful showing at this summer’s World Cup, few people expected them to be relegated from this group with a game left to play. In contrast, it was widely predicted that the Dutch would be Group 1’s whipping boys. But a goal from Liverpool’s Gini Wijnaldum and a late Memphis Depay penalty saw them consign France to their first defeat in 15 matches on Friday.
That result means that the Netherlands only need a draw here to top the division. The scoreline against France didn’t flatter the Dutch, either, and would have been even more convincing had it not been for the French keeper, Hugo Lloris. The appointments earlier in 2018 of a new coach, Ronald Koeman, and captain, Virgil van Dijk have clearly rejuvenated the side.
Germany drew some much-needed comfort from an easy win over an injury-ravaged Russia team on Thursday in which Leroy Sane scored his first goal for the national team. However, the boost to their morale didn’t last long, because the Dutch victory over France 24 hours later doomed the Germans to relegation.
In addition to the team’s on-field issues, there are also concerns about how many fans will turn up to watch what has become an essentially meaningless game, especially as the German national side have already struggled to sell tickets for several recent matches.
