DJ Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers

Stats: seven catches, 157 yards, one touchdown, eight targets

The Carolina Panthers suffered a disappointing loss that made things a little tighter in the NFC playoff race. Cam Newton and company still have a good shot at a Wild Card spot, but every loss obviously hurts their chances.

One positive sign from this week’s game was the play of rookie DJ Moore. The young receiver continues to take big steps forward in his development. He’s quickly becoming the team’s top pass catching option.

It’s his combination of speed and quick-twitch ability that helps him create separation. Moore’s explosiveness also makes him a major deep threat.

The Panthers have a unique collection of playmakers on their roster. They have some similar type players with Moore, Christian McCaffrey and Curtis Samuel. These three are shifty players who really can create with the ball in their hands.

Moore’s play and overall production has been hit or miss for much of the season. This has a lot to do with his inexperience, but also the way Carolina operates their offense. Newton doesn’t typically lock on to a specific target.

He’s more someone who likes to spread the ball around. This means that while Moore is a solid add this week, he may give you a few disappointing games down the stretch.
