NHL DFS Man Advantage Monday November 19
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DF S Man Advantage for Monday nights 9 game slate. It feels good to be back after a much-needed family vacation in Disney last week. I hope you all had a good and profitable week last week and we can keep that rolling into this week.
We have a larger than usual Monday slate this week with 9 games on the schedule for the night. We get a battle of two of the top 4 teams in goals scored when the Blue Jackets head up to Toronto to take on the Leafs. There is also the scorching hot Sabres in Pittsburgh taking on the Crosby-less Penguins and another matchup of top scoring teams when the league leader in goals scored, Tampa Bay, travel to Smashville to battle the 6th ranked Predators. In net we get top goalies like Hellebuyck, Luongo, Price, and Rittich.
NHL DFS Goalies
My top choice in between the pipes for the night is the suddenly hot David Rittich ($7.9K) for the Calgary Flames. Rittich has seemingly taken over the number one spot from the struggling Mike Smith. Rittich has outperformed Smith in every way possible with a 6-1 record in 9 games and a stellar .933 SV% and 1.92 GAA. If he can continue to play this well he will undoubtedly remain the number one goalie in Calgary going forward. Rittich is also my top netminder because of the opponent, the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas ranks in the bottom 4 in goals scored this season and are only averaging 2.5 goals per game, but 34.1 shots on goal per game.
Some other top goaltending choices include Connor Hellebuyck ($8.3K) as he and the Jets suddenly take on the ice-cold Vancouver Canucks. Since their 8 goal outburst against Boston on November 8th the Canucks have only scored a total of 8 goals in the 4 games following. Jake Allen (8.2K) has not had the best season but a matchup with the league worst Los Angeles Kings. Allen has a pedestrian 3.51 GAA and a .890 SV%, but Allen has stopped 50 of the last 52 shots he’s faced. Los Angeles has only scored 38 goals in 19 games this season so this game seems like a breakout spot for the St. Louis goalie.
NHL DFS Top Individual Players
Top Tier:
Blake Wheeler ($7.1K) – Wheeler is the captain and might be the best player on the Jets right now as he leads the team with 21 assists and 24 points on the season. Wheeler had his 9 game point streak ended in the Jets last game against Buffalo, but he will look to start a new streak on Monday against Vancouver.
Alexander Radulov ($6.9K) – Radulov has only played 10 games (missing 10 due to injury) but has 15 points in those 10 games after netting 2 goals and an assist against the Islanders on Sunday. Now he and the Dallas Stars take on the other New York team at The Garden Monday night. New York has been playing well of late alternating wins and losses over their last 3 games giving up 10 goals in that stretch. Radulov is back playing with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn to make a formidable, yet expensive, line stack on Monday night.
Thomas Chabot ($6.7K) – The entire Sens blue line have been amazing this season leading the league in goals by defensemen with 18 this season and Chabot has been the best of the bunch. Chabot leads the team in assists with 18 and is second with 23 points. Florida has lost 2 straight and has given up 11 goals in those 2 games.
Mid Tier:
Tomas Tatar ($5.8K) – It’s 2018 and Tomas Tatar is under priced, think about that for a minute. Tatar, along with Max Domi, has been on a tear of late for the Habs. In his last 6 games Tatar has 6 goals and also has 27 FP over the same 6 games. Tatar and his linemates (Phillip Danault and Brendan Gallagher) on the Canadiens top line make for an inexpensive line stack against a Capital team that has lost 3 of 5.
Steven Stamkos ($5.6K) – Stamkos has a matchup with the Predators and probably Pekka Rinne which is why his price is down so much from his $6,900 price on Saturday night. I know Rinne is one of the best goalies in the league but the Lightning are the most potent offense in the league scoring 4+ goals in 6 of their last 7 games. I don’t see the Predators shutting out the Lightning on Monday and Stamkos’ line could be the one that does the damage, I am willing to take a chance on them at their low prices.
Mike Matheson ($5K) – I am not generally a fan of paying up for defensemen personally, but when there is a lot of value at forward I will look for an under owned high price dman who has potential to put up big numbers, and Matheson fits that mold. Over the last 2 games Matheson has put up 11 fantasy points along with 3 assists. Matheson also plays a ton of minutes, he is averaging over 21 minutes per game as well as playing 2nd line PP minutes.
Value Tier:
Conor Sheary ($4.4K) – Right now the Penguins are horrible and have been giving up goals like they’re going out of style (14 goals allowed in their last three games) and Buffalo will most likely put up a few more on them on Monday. Sheary hasn’t been one of Buffalo’s best players of late, but there’s always a revenge narrative when a player is traded and Sheary will want to show the Pens they made a mistake in trading him
Drake Batherson ($4K) – Batherson is one the Senators top prospects who has put up 20 points in 14 AHL games this season and already has a goal and 2 assists in 2 NHL games. Batherson is playing on the second line alongside Matt Duchene which makes him a very intriguing option for a mini stack with Duchene.
Ryan Murray ($3.8K) – Murray has not had a great year thus far, but he does have 10 FP in his last 3 games along with 2 assists. He makes for a decent cheap option in what could be one of the highest scoring games on the slate.
NHL DFS Top Line Stacks
Buffalo 1 – Jeff Skinner – Jack Eichel – Sam Reinhart – This line is 3 of the top 4 goal scorers for the Sabres and this line could produce 2-3 goals tonight.

Toronto 1 – Mitch Marner – John Tavares – Zach Hyman – These 3 are tied for the second most goals produced as a unit with 15 on the season. Mitch Marner has 16 points on the year and all of them are primary points.
Columbus 1 – Cam Atkinson – Pierre-Luc Dubois – Artemi Panarin – This is one of the hottest lines in the league and is right behind Toronto with 14 goals scored as a line on the season.
Florida 1 – Mike Hoffman – Aleksander Barkov – Evgenii Dadonov – Mike Hoffman may be the hottest player in the league with a 15 game point streak, I have to ride that until it ends.
St. Louis 2 – Robby Fabbri – Tyler Bozak – Brayden Schenn – I have given you a bunch of high-priced lines, here is a line that could save you some money and produce some big points for you against a terrible LA Kings team.
