Twitter was made for nights like the crazy MNF showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams. Here are some of the best reactions.

Sometimes we run out of adjectives as sports fans or writers, and the Monday Night Football slugfest between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams, which turned into an incredible, dramatic 54-51 triumph for the home team, was a prime example. Thankfully, Twitter was there to give us even more.

If ever there was a game made for the social media era, this was it. Among the jaw-dropping stats: It was the highest scoring MNF game ever, and the third-highest of all time. It was the first NFL game to feature both teams scoring 50 or more points, as well as the first 50-plus point losing effort (sorry, Chiefs fans).

Patrick Mahomes passed for 478 yards and six touchdowns … and lost.

Twitter chipped in even more amazing context.

Other big entertainment brands were impressed as well.

Memes and GIFs? Of course Twitter is going to serve those up. In fact, Chiefs-Rams was like a mini-history of those things all on its own.

And quite a few observers noted that it will be really, really tough for the Super Bowl to top Chiefs-Rams. Unless maybe they play each other again there …

The game was so good, it might have even converted some fans from other countries into NFL aficionados.

So thank you Chiefs, thank you Rams, and thank you, Twitter, for being there on a night like this one. Many, many words will be written about this game in the days to come, but plenty were already shared while it was going on, and those were almost as fun as the game itself — but not quite.
