DraftKings CFB picks November 20: Attack Ball State

We have two college football games tonight, so DraftKings has given us a slate! It promises to be MACtion packed with four MAC teams in action. Only Northern Illinois has a solid defense, so we really need to pick right to cash in on this one.

I missed out on last Tuesday’s slate because of my full time job, but I am able to get this one out in short order. The options seem to be pretty clear.

The scoring for NCAA football is much the same as it is for the NFL with one notable exception: the super flex! That means aside from the flex position which is RB/WR, you can add another player from any position! Want four running backs? Go right ahead! Five wide receivers? Sure! Two quarterbacks? Of course! Just stay under the salary cap! There is also late swap, which is essential for contests with start times spanning several hours.

DraftKings Quarterback Picks November 20

Top Tier:

Drew Plitt is the most expensive quarterback, but his 4-4 touchdown to interception ratio suggests that maybe he hasn’t been all that great with Riley Neal out. The Redhawks did a decent enough job on Childers last week, but Plitt doesn’t have the running ability to salvage a game like Childers does.

Middle Tier:

Truth be told, I trust Marcus Childers more than the rest of the quarterbacks. First off, he is playing the Western Michigan team that Plitt put up 22 DraftKings points on back in week 6. Childers isn’t much of a passer, but his running ability sets him apart and gives him a high floor.

Gus Ragland got the clamps put on him by NIU last week, and Ohio the week before that. He should be able to get back on track against Ball State, maybe even at lower ownership because of two bad weeks in a row.

Bargain Shoppers:

Kaleb Eleby has looked good filling in for Jon Wassink, but this NIU defense shut down Ragland last week, who was one of the highest rated passers in the MAC heading into that one. I expect Eleby to carry low ownership, but probably with good reason.

DraftKings Running Back Picks November 20

Top Tier:

Bellamy or Bogan? That has been the question for much of the year with the Western Michigan backfield. I finally have a satisfactory answer for you: last week it was both. This week it’s neither! That’s right. I won’t be using either one of them. Northern Illinois has only allowed 108 rushing yards per game on the season. I don’t see enough upside to pay for either one of them.

Middle Tier:

Tre Harbison has three straight games with double digit DraftKings points. This should be his fourth. Western Michigan is allowing 177 rushing yards per game on the ground this year, and unlike the Broncos’ backfield situation, Harbison isn’t really sharing the carries. Childers will swipe some, but Harbison should still get at least 15 touches, and probably more. That is more than enough to hit value for this price.

NIU shut down the Redhawks last week, but prior to that game, both Alonzo Smith and Kenny Young had been over double digits in DraftKings points in the previous three games. Ball State is one of the worst run defenses in the country, so you could use a backfield stack here. If only using one, Young is a slightly better option, but they are both good.

Bargain Shoppers:

James Gilbert has done his part to lessen the load on the new quarterback over the last three weeks, but with so many other good options on the slate, I see no reason to step down to here unless you are going to use four running backs. Come to think of it, that’s not a bad idea…..

Marcus Jones doesn’t get a lot of touches, but he is electric when he gets them. Jones has double digit DraftKings points in each of the last three games and has scored a touchdown in each of the last two.

DraftKings Wide Receiver Picks November 17

Top Tier:

Justin Hall and Riley Miller have both enjoyed consecutive games of more than 20 DraftKings points. They now have a rapport with Plitt, and I honestly don’t have an issue with using both of them. I would probably go with Miller if only using one due to his track record, but neither is a bad pick.

Middle Tier:

It would be easy to just bail on the Miami offense, but Jack Sorenson even had double digit DraftKings points against NIU, a team that shut down this offense. Sorenson is worthy of a shot no matter the opponent.

Giovanni Ricci has become the favorite target of Kaleb Eleby. If you want a WMU receiver, Ricci should be the guy.

Bargain Shoppers:

I don’t know that I could justify using a NIU receiver since they run the ball so much, but Spencer Tears has been the favorite target of late, and he can save you a boatload of cash. Drake Harris is also worth a look if you need to save money at more than one WR position. Harris has at least three receptions in every game he has played this season.
