Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson

Joe Flacco’s status for the Baltimore Ravens Week 12 tilt against the Oakland Raiders is unclear, which means that rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson is a worthy pickup for fantasy football owners this week.

Jackson made the first start of his career last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he impressed in a must-win game against a division rival. Though Jackson made one mistake that led to an interception, he was quite crisp as a whole, completing nearly 70% of his passes and looking more in-command of the Ravens offense than his critics expected.

At Louisville, Jackson was the most impressive player in college football, winning the Heisman Trophy once and nearly winning it in his final year with the Cardinals. Jackson made his name off of big plays with his arm and even bigger plays with his legs.

The Ravens didn’t want to risk asking too much out of his arm in his first start, but they did make great usage of his rushing ability. Jackson beat down the Bengals offense to the tune of 117 rushing yards on a whopping 27 carries, controlling the game for the hard-nosed Ravens, working well in tandem with fellow rookie Gus Edwards in the backfield.

In case Flacco can’t suit up, Jackson is a key fantasy addition for Week 12, because he’s almost a lock to run for 100 yards on the atrocious Raiders defense.
