5. team. 41. . 12-6. Previous: 2nd. Golden State Warriors

You can think the Draymond Green – Kevin Durant kerfuffle and subsequent hand-wringing about the future was overblown and still think there’s something wrong with the Warriors right now. Golden State had split their two games before the overtime loss to the Clippers that had Green and Durant barking at each other. Since then, they’ve lost three of their last four, with their only win coming against the lowly Hawks. Stephen Curry has missed the last six games and this absence underscores how important he still is to their success.

Curry had, somewhat incredibly, been on track for a career year before this injury. And how well he had been playing underscored how much the Warriors had looked out of sorts when he was resting. Across the entire season, the Warriors have been outscored when Curry is not on the floor, but have a point differential of plus-13.5 when he’s in the game. Durant leading the offense without Curry on the floor has only mustered an offensive rating of 108.8 points per 100 possessions, a good-but-not-great number. The Warriors may still be the favorites and all bets are off when Curry returns. But for now, they look as beatable as they ever have during this era.
