It wasn’t too long ago when the Brooklyn Nets signed Otto Porter to a four-year, $106.5 million offer sheet in hopes to steal him away from Washington. Washington matched, obviously, and it’s fair to wonder if they would have been better off just letting him become a Net.

Luckily enough, Brooklyn still wants him (in this scenario, at least). As a 3-4 floor-spacer, Porter would be a good fit in Brooklyn’s offense next to D’Angelo Russell and Caris LeVert (when he returns).

The Nets will be burned by their own match in this deal, as the 15 percent trade kicker they included in his offer sheet will make them cough up even more money on top of the $27 million he’s set to make each year (on average). But they will be getting a solid starter that could be a potential long-term cog in their future plans.

Washington will get DeMarre Carroll and Jared Dudley, simply to get some cap space in the summer. These two are good players as well, so the Wizards are still looking like a playoff contender.
