NFL DraftKings Thanksgiving Day Slate: Stack the Saints
By Bill Pivetz
There are three games being played on Thanksgiving, giving NFL DraftKings players more flexibility in their lineups.
Week 12 of the football season begins on Thanksgiving Day with three games being played. DraftKings has a slate for all three games. The day starts with CHI/DET at 12:30 PM, then WAS/DAL at 4:30 PM and finishes with ATL/NO at 8:20 PM. If you’re looking to make a quick buck, stack your New Orleans Saints players in this NFL DraftKings slate.
The Saints are on a roll, winning nine straight games after dominating the Philadelphia Eagles. They are good at running and passing the ball better than any other team. Their defense has even stepped up over the last couple of weeks. With Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram and Tre’Quan Smith at his disposal, Drew Brees will have a great game.
The Atlanta Falcons defense has allowed 284.1 passing yards and 27.6 points per game. DraftKings ranks their defense 24th in the league. They rank the Saints at 32nd so this game could be a shootout. Hopefully, it’s like that Monday night game between the Chiefs and Rams.

Julio Jones is the second-most expensive wide receiver in this slate, $600 cheaper than Thomas. With the Falcons likely playing from behind in this game, Matt Ryan will look to throw downfield and Jones will be the target. It just may not happen in the red zone. Calvin Ridley is dealing with a thigh injury. If he’s out, I like Mohamed Sanu as your third wide receiver.
Going back to the first game, there isn’t much fantasy value to find. Mitch Trubisky is dealing with a shoulder injury. He didn’t practice Tuesday but many expect him to be ready for this game. Even so, Allen Robinson may regress from last week. Tarik Cohen is a good RB2 play. If you have the budget, the Chicago Bears defense is the top option.
The Detroit Lions offense has scored over 30 just twice this season. Matthew Stafford is missing Golden Tate and Marvin Jones. The only player I want to use in my lineup is Kenny Golladay. The running back situation is a mess between LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick.
Between the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys, stay away from both quarterbacks. Colt McCoy gets his first start in years and Dak Prescott is not getting help from his offensive line. Ezekiel Elliott can run against anyone. Amari Cooper is a hit-or-miss option. Cole Beasley is a good flex option depending on your remaining budget.
The Redskins do not have a wide receiver I want to use, especially with McCoy under center. Adrian Peterson had two touchdowns against the Houston Texans in Week 11. If the Redskins coaching staff wants to limit McCoy’s mistakes, they will hand the ball off to Peterson 25 times in this game. Volume results in points (most of the time). Jordan Reed is a nice play as a safety blanket for McCoy.
When I constructed my DraftKings lineup, I knew I was using Brees and Thomas. The rest of the lineup consists of Ingram, Cohen, Sanu, Golladay, Reed, Beasley and Cowboys defense. Based on their matchups and surroundings, this lineup has the potential to score a lot of points. I was flip-flopping between Anthony Miller and Beasley but stuck with Beasley because of his track record.
