McKenzie Milton suffered a devastating leg injury vs. USF.

The college football world is hoping for the best for UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton after he was carted off the field during the second quarter vs. USF.

Milton is one of the best players in the nation and a big reason for the Knights holding the nation’s longest winning streak. He was the 2017 AAC Offensive Player of the Year and a darkhorse Heisman candidate. He gave the thumbs up to the crowd after suffering an injury that undoubtedly ends his season.

The dual-threat quarterback was running toward the right sideline when the USF defensive back came crashing into his knee. Milton was down in considerable pain and the reactions from the players on the field and sidelines were clear that this was bad. UCF ruled Milton out for the game but didn’t elaborate on his condition as he was taken to an area hospital.

ESPN immediately went to commercial as medical personnel tended to Milton. They didn’t show the replay because of the sensitive nature of the injury and out of respect for Milton and his family. The brief look at Milton’s leg was enough to make everyone watching at home sick to their stomach.

After former head coach Scott Frost who led the team to an undefeated record last year and 2017 AAC Defensive Player of the Year Shaqueem Griffin, Milton has served as the face of this team.

With Milton, UCF was in line to play in a New Year’s Six bowl and had a sliver of hope for a College Football Playoff berth.

With Milton presumably done for the year, UCF may still win the AAC but their chances of crashing the Playoff field are over. It’s terribly unfair for Milton and UCF, but also for college football fans everywhere who rooted for the Hawaiian native to continue leading this group of underdogs.

Milton is a player that makes college football the special game that it is. It’s terribly upsetting that he’ll be unable to continue his season and leading this team.
