NHL DFS Man Advantage Friday November 23
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Friday November 28! Today we get an 8 game slate with some of the best teams and players in the league and some great goaltending options as well.
We get a rematch from Wednesday with St Louis and Nashville which means if Rinne plays in net he is the top NHL DFS option in goal again, also we have the Islanders and Devils both trying to break out of some funks after losing 5 of their last 8. We get Toronto and Columbus in a matchup of two of the top scoring teams as well as Sidney Crosby and the Pens in Beantown to take on the injury depleted Bruins.
NHL DFS Goalies
My top goalie on the night is actually Martin Jones ($8.3K) as he and the Sharks take on the Vancouver Canucks in the last game on the night. Vancouver comes in losing 7 straight scoring only 16 goals in all 7 games combined. While Jones hasn’t had a stellar season this is a matchup you can exploit and Jones might come in low owned as well because people could be scared off by game logs and his high price.
Pekka Rinne ($8.2K) is probably option 1B if he plays. Even if it’s Juuse Saros ($8K) he still a good option to use for tonight. Semyon Varlamov ($7.7K) has a good matchup with the Coyotes who have lost 6 of 8 and only scored 16 goals in those 8 games.
Casey DeSmith ($7K) is my favorite low price option as he and the Pens take on the Bruins tonight. Boston has only scored 7 goals in their last 4 games and this once high-powered offense seems pedestrian without their top line in tact.
NHL DFS Top Individual Plays
High Tier:
John Tavares ($7.5K) – Tavares has points in 9 of his last ten games scoring 7 goals in those 10 games. JT had a goal and an assist in his last matchup against the Blue Jackets on 11/19.
Cam Atkinson ($7K) – In the same game we have Cam Atkinson who is just as hot as Tavares is. Atkinson has scored goals in 5 straight (7 goals ) and also had a goal and an assist in the Blue Jackets and Leafs last meeting.
Kris Letang ($6.2K) – Letang may only have 1 goal and 2 assists over the Penguins last 4 games but he has been averaging 4 FPPG in those 4 games. Even when he doesn’t get on the score sheet Letang gets his points with peripheral stats (SOG and BS)
Mid Tier:
Matt Duchene ($5.8K) – Duchene sees his price drop $300 after one bad game but has a mathup against the Stars who just gave up 5 to the Penguins last game. Duchene has 4 goals and 4 assists in his last 4 games. You can pair Duchene with rookie winger Drake Batherson ($4.4K) for an inexpensive mini stack.
Erik Karlsson ($5.6K) – I haven’t written up Karlsson as much as I thought I would this season but he has finally seemed to get it going in San Jose of late. Karlsson has scored 1 goal and 4 assists in his last 4 games and is averaging 5.1 FPPG in his last 4 as well.
Jonathan Toews ($5.3K) – Toews has been having a very good season for a bad Blackhawks team. Over his last 5 games Toews has 2 goals and 4 assists and is also averaging 3.8 FPPG. A line stack of Toews, Brandon Saad, and Patrick Kane would be fairly expensive but could be a good GPP stack to use that will be low owned.
Low Tier:
Ryan Ellis ($4.4K) – Ellis has 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 3 as well as 16 fantasy points in those 3 games. Ellis has taken 10 shots and blocked 6 during the last 3 games as well and he scored in the last game against the Blues on 11/21.
Justin Williams ($4.3K) – Williams has scored in his last two games and accumulated 9.5 fantasy points in the last two as well. Williams plays wing on the Hurricanes second line with Jordan Staal and Brook McGinn as well as seeing time on the Canes second PP unit.
Nikolay Goldobin ($4.2K) – Goldobin has been one bright spot for the Canucks in their current 7 game winless drought. Over the last 3 games Goldobin has 2 goals and 3 assists as well 16.5 fantasy points over that stretch as well.
NHL DFS Top Line Stacks
Pittsburgh 1 – Jake Guentzel – Sidney Crosby – Patric Hornqvist : Sidney Crosby is back after missing a few games due to injury and came back with a vengeance scoring once and assisting on 2 goals as well.

Tampa Bay 1 – Nikita Kucherov – Steven Stamkos – JT Miller : This line makes up 3 of the Lightnings top 5 scorers on the season and also all three play on the first power play unit
Colorado 1 – Mikko Rantanen – Nathan MacKinnon – Gabriel Landeskog: This is the best line in hockey right now ( especially since Bergeron is hurt in Boston). No line in hockey plays more minutes together per game.
San Jose 2 – Timo Meier – Logan Couture – Tomas Hertl : Couture is second on the Sharks with 14 assists and Meier is second in goals with 12 goals. This is one of the most underappreciated lines in hockey and could definitely win you some cash on Friday.
Nashville 1 – Craig Smith – Ryan Johansen – Filip Forsberg : This line feature the Preds top goal scorer in Forsberg with 14 and top assist man in Johansen with 16. I may not play this entire line as a stack, but I am more likely to use Forsberg/Johansen together as a mini stack.
