Black Friday is here and one of the hottest destinations once again is big box retail giant Walmart.
If you’re looking for some of the best doorbuster deals of the 2018 holiday season then Walmart is the place to be on Black Friday. Stores open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and most locations will remain open through the night until Friday morning at 6 a.m., when Black Friday sales will “officially” begin.
Walmart has an interesting way of handling Black Friday when the stores are already open. Instead of massive queues outside, there are some stores that allow shoppers inside prior to the official start time. Shoppers, armed with maps of where the deals are located throughout the store, are able to gather around until it’s go time. At 6 a.m. sharp the plastic wrapping is taken off of giant pallets of doorbusters and the frenzy begins. (The same is true of Walmart locations open all day on Thanksgiving.)

Shoppers who want an early jump on deals can start shopping for Walmart’s big deals online beginning late Wednesday night and continuing through Thursday. It’s nice having the same big deals available online so that people aren’t forced to go to the store for their shopping if they don’t want to. Buying online can help keep gifts a secret and make it so that you don’t have to lug huge televisions from your car to your house because they will be delivered for you.
As you’re preparing for Black Friday at Walmart, be ready to pace yourself. In addition to the online deals, the Thanksgiving Day deals and the Black Friday deals, there are also deals going on throughout the weekend. Savvy shoppers will know which days yield the best prices and shop accordingly instead of trying to pack it all in.
Be sure to call ahead because each Walmart location can have slightly different Black Friday policies depending on the area. Some may have queues building as early as Thanksgiving, while others may open slightly earlier. It’s always good to check before showing up at the risk of missing out.
