The Yellow Jackets are one of the few FBS teams to run the triple option, which is extremely difficult to defend. Simulating cut blocks and having someone who can make every read to challenge your defense in practice is very difficult. Even Alabama struggled to defend The Citadel last weekend early on.
The good news for the Bulldogs is that their offense has plenty of firepower to overmatch the Yellow Jackets. Led by quarterback Jake Fromm, the passing game has plenty of weapons, especially wide receiver Riley Ridley. Fromm can take the top off with his arm or methodically pick defenses apart with his precision passing. Having two stud running backs in Elijah Holyfield and D’Andre Swift will make the Yellow Jackets have to commit one way or the other. Expect some fireworks in this game from the start.
It will be up to the front seven on each side of the ball to slow the opposing offenses down. The Bulldogs will need to stay disciplined and know what their assignments are, and the Yellow Jackets will need to pressure Fromm and stay in their gaps to defend the run.
Here’s how to watch and bet
- Date: Saturday, Nov. 24
- Time: Noon ET
- Location: Athens, GA
- Stadium: Sanford Stadium
- Spread: Georgia -17
- TV channel: SEC network

Prediction: The triple option will give Georgia fits early, and it could even put them in a deficit if they aren’t very prepared. However, the Bulldogs are too balanced of an offense and the Yellow Jackets will find it difficult to handle the balanced offense. Look for a high scoring affair, and a possible Yellow Jacket cover, even with the game in Athens.
Final Score: Georgia 42, Georgia Tech 26
