Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer was not pleased with a missed call during Saturday’s game against Michigan, and wound up getting a flag of his own.
Emotions are understandably high whenever two hated rivals go head-to-head. That gets ramped up to 11 when it’s a game between Ohio State and Michigan, and Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer showed that emotion on a national stage on Saturday.
In the second quarter of Saturday’s game, Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins felt some pressure in the pocket and decided to scramble downfield. As Haskins slid down, he was hit by a Wolverines player on what could have arguably been flagged for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defenseless quarterback giving himself up.
Instead, the referees swallowed their whistles, and Meyer absolutely lost his mind. The Buckeyes head coach stormed onto the field, and wound up getting a 15-yard penalty of his own for unsportsmanlike conduct.
You can watch part of the meltdown that would even make Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh blush below.

It’s hard to blame Meyer for being upset. The hit on Haskins was borderline, and Meyer was clearly just trying to protect his quarterback, who has been an incredible asset for the offense.
The good news for Meyer is that the Michigan defense ended up bailing him out with a pass interference call on third and long the very next play to keep the drive alive.
Still, the Ohio State head coach needs to take it easy sometimes. He’s had very publicly talked about health issues over the years, including some very serious migraines during games. Tirades like this one probably aren’t going to make those migraines any better on Saturdays.
