College football rankings: Week 14 AP Top 25 predictions
Week 13 of the college football season is in the books and while the AP Top 25 isn’t the most important poll, it’s a close preview of the playoff rankings.
When you hear the phrase “crazy weekend of college football”, you usually think a couple of upsets happen. While there weren’t a ton of upsets this weekend, the games were far more entertaining than expected, leading to a wild slate.
Texas A&M and LSU went to seven overtimes before a winner was decided as the Aggies came out on top, 74-72 — no, that’s not a typo.
West Virginia and Oklahoma also had a shootout, but the Sooners and Mountaineers didn’t need overtime. Oklahoma kept its playoff hopes alive with a thrilling 59-56 win on the road.
Washington State did go down via upset as it lost to rival Washington in a snowy Apple Cup and Michigan was also defeated on the road in The Game by Ohio State, 62-39.
Can we just repeat this weekend? This was too much fun.
Here’s what the Week 13 AP Top 25 could look like Sunday afternoon.

It was a crazy weekend in college football which got its kickoff on Thursday with the Egg Bowl and continued through Saturday evening, culminated with a huge Notre Dame vs. USC battle.
The Fighting Irish were able to take care of the Trojans to end their regular season with a 12-0 record, likely locking up the first College Football Playoff spot with no conference title in line.
Potentially joining the Fighting Irish in the playoff are Alabama, who beat Auburn handily, and Clemson who handed South Carolina a 21-point defeat. Both of those teams have been playoff regulars and finished their respective regular seasons with 12-0 records.
As shown by the AP Top 25, there will be a few teams knocking on the door. Oklahoma, hopefully with more defense, could be looking at a berth with a Big 12 title win over rival Texas, Georgia could sneak in and potentially force two SEC teams in the playoff again and even Ohio State could get in with a big win over Northwestern in the Big Ten title game and losses by Georgia, Oklahoma, Clemson or Alabama.
Buckle up, folks, conference championship week is going to be a different beast.
The AP Top 25 will be released at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 25.
