NBA FanDuel DFS Targets: Sunday, November 25th – Stack the Sixers!
Welcome to this edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target for tonight’s action, geared for cash games and tournament plays on FanDuel.
Welcome to the Sunday edition of NBA FanDuel DFS Targets for NBA DFS. First, I will go over players to target at each position for tonight’s six-game main slate, starting at 6:00 ET, which is an hour earlier normal than we are used to on the weekdays.
I will give two targets at each of the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP.
Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.
With NBA DFS, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups. There is so much info that will drop over the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect.
If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.
NBA FanDuel 11/25/18: What To Expect Tonight:
Sunday is here, and we have a nice little six game main slate, which is kind of rare for a Sunday. We usually get three or four games, or they are spread out through the day so much it makes it annoying. But, there are a total of eight games today, and four start when our slate locks at 6:00 ET.
Despite twelve teams in action, the stars will on a back-to-back and played Friday and Saturday, and now we are sifting through some rough positions today overall. The first glance at power forward today was almost laughable. I have no idea how we will find two players we can trust in that entire pool of players, but I will do my best rest assured.
We have just one team on the second leg of a back-to-back tonight, and that will be the Sacramento Kings, as they return home from a short road trip after facing the Warriors at Oracle Arena last night. They will host the Jazz tonight, in a tough battle of a good defense meets a good offense.
On the injury front, we still will have some value at the guard position with the Miami Heat. Tyler Johnson and Goran Dragic remain out, and I would expect Wayne Ellington and Rodney McGruder to be the prime beneficiaries. We also have game-time decisions on Jimmy Butler and Donovan Mitchell, and while I am not looking at the Jazz very much, if Jimmy Buckets can’t go, you would have to consider of course Wilson Chandler once again, and maybe even Landry Shamet. Keep an eye on that news before lock, and adjust accordingly.
NBA FanDuel 11/25/18: Point Guard Targets:
Ben Simmons – Philadelphia 76ers – $9,900 – (Cash)
Normally on a bigger slate this would be a GPP play, but with point guard being the most stacked position on the board today, and the Sixers in a game that should stay close, I am all about Simmons in all formats today. In fact, this is typically a position I spend down at, considering all of the value we see below $5K on a daily basis.
This is not the case today at all. My builds are telling me to spend up at point guard, as every other position today has some holes. The Sixers travel to Brooklyn to face the Nets, and while we are still waiting for a game total, this looks to be one of the closest potential games on the slate.
After a semi-slow start for Simmons, he has four straight games over 44 FDP, and scoring buckets has helped his bottom line tremendously. Not known to really light it up offensively, Simmons has averaged over 20 actual points per game in that span. When these two teams met earlier in the month, Simmons had a solid all around game, posting 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers – $9,300 – (GPP)
Tough call here for sure with the red-hot Kemba Walker just $100 more, and even though a first glance at the match-up’s looks to heavily favor Walker, I am seeing it slightly differently. Yes, Dame will have to deal with the pesky defense of Patrick Beverley, but this game in Portland should stay close, as opposed to what Walker faces.
Walker and the Hornets will face the struggling Atlanta Hawks, and my concern here is that the starters will not be needed for the fourth quarter in this one. Charlotte stands as 8-point road favorites at the moment, which is never a good sign for the home team. Therefore, even despite the tougher match-up for Lillard, I think he is the correct play tonight.
***Value Plays: Jeremy Lin $4,700 – Emmanuel Mudiay $4,000***
NBA FanDuel 11/25/18: Shooting Guard Targets:
CJ McCollum – Portland Trail Blazers – $6,900 – (GPP)
It’s a tough position at the top today without a doubt, as the game-time decisions on Jimmy Buckets and Donovan Mitchell are making it hard to spend up here at all. I personally will not be, but I can see McCollum being a viable GPP play.
The Blazers host the Clippers, and we know Lillard will have his hands full with Beverley, which should create some extra looks for McCollum. While CJ doesn’t have the type of ceiling we need here at this price, he shouldn’t kill your lineups today, and should be able to break his FDP average of just over 30. In the first meeting between these teams, McCollum scored 23 points and grabbed seven boards, leading to a solid 34.4 FDP day.
Wayne Ellington – Miami Heat – $4,200 – (Cash)
The Heat are a mess and riddled with injuries, so a game on the road against one of the best teams in the league could quickly spell disaster for this squad. Miami will travel north of the border to face the Raptors in Toronto, and it is looking again like this team could only have nine healthly bodies.
Ellington has been starting at the point guard position while Johnson and Dragic remain out, and he played 34 minutes last time out. Despite the fact that Miami will probably not stay in this game, with Josh Richardson battling with Kawhi Leonard and vice versa, I think the opportunity for someone to step up should present itself. Whether it be Ellington, or starting shooting guard Rodney McGruder, one of these two could have a solid game. Since this position is pretty haggard at the top today, and we have some solid value below $5K. This is certainly a spend down spot for me.
***Value Plays: Rodney McGruder $4,900 – Iman Shumpert $4,300***
NBA FanDuel 11/25/18: Small Forward Targets
Kawhi Leonard – Toronto Raptors – $9,700 – (GPP)
Always some risk here, but again, for a six game slate lacking the top superstars, Leonard appears to be in play. There was word within the last few days the Kawhi is close to playing back-to-backs, which is really the only thing I fear when rostering him. Thankfully, we know the Raptors are off tomorrow, so Leonard should be full go in this one.
Leonard sat the second leg of a back-to-back against Atlanta on Wednesday, but returned to action in stellar fashion on Friday against the Wizards. He led all scorers with 27 points in that game, en route to a 47 FDP game. I fear a blowout here against the Heat, and Leonard will have a tough time offensively while battling with Josh Richardson, but I still see a minimum of 40-45 FDP for him. Should this game somehow stay close, it could end up a huge game for Leonard. He is certainly worth a GPP play.
Nemanja Bjelica – Sacramento Kings – $4,900 – (Cash)
If I don’t make it through every position besides point guard without calling it trash today, I will be surprised. In cash games today, there is no reason to spend more than $5K here for either roster spot, as there are just question marks everywhere for many reasons. I was feeling pretty confident rolling with Bjelica here for cash games, as he was starting to get his minutes back, and was able to drop 30.4 FDP at Utah the other night. However, last night against the Warriors, he played just 18 minutes and scored one point.
Truthfully, I like Jae Crowder a bit as well, but neither of these guys are going to get us more than 25 FDP unless we are lucky. In all honesty, let’s hope Jimmy Butler sits this one out. I already am liking the Wilson Chandler value play, but it will become a lock for me if Jimmy can’t go.
***Value Plays: Jae Crowder $4,900 – Wilson Chandler $3,900***
NBA FanDuel 11/25/18: Power Forward Targets:
Montrezl Harrell – Los Angeles Clippers – $8,300 – (GPP)
Well, Well, Well, another position I have no interest in spending up at. When I look at the top four most expensive power forwards today, I see two Clippers and two Raptors. Maybe it’s time to switch the positions on a couple of these guys? Regardless, the only name I see of the four that has some GPP upside here is Harrell.
Still coming off the bench and playing most of his minutes at Center, Harrell is still on fire, and has put up at least 20 points and 9 rebounds in each of the last three games. He is coming off of a 22 point, 11 rebound game against the Grizzlies in which he battled with Marc Gasol. That was good for 42.7 FDP, and Harrell’s sixth 40+ FDP game of the season.
Once again I will be looking in the $5K range here for cash games, similar to SG and SF. That leads us to our lock of the day.
Noah Vonleh – New York Knicks – $5,200 – (Cash)
We never know what the Knicks are going to do rotation wise, but to fade Vonleh in cash games at this price after what he has done the last three games would be foolish. The match-up should be a tough one here with Memphis, but the versatility of Vonleh, and the fact that has played 30+ minutes in three straight says to keep riding this one out.
Those three straight 30+ minute games have also led to three straight 40+ FDP games, and all against teams who defend the PF position well. Vonleh first put up 14 points and 14 boards on his former team Portland, then followed that with a 16 and 10 performance at Boston. Then most recently, it was a 14 and 11 game against New Orleans, in which he was also able to dish out five assists, pick up two steals, and block two shots. This is another spot for Vonleh to fill up the stat sheet, so I have this one locked up in cash games.
***Value Plays: John Collins $5,000 – JaMychal Green $4,800***
NBA FanDuel 11/25/18: Center Targets:
Joel Embiid – Philadelphia 76ers – $11,700 – (Cash/GPP)
I haven’t been writing this article long, just over a couple of weeks now to be exact. But if you have learned anything at all, you first know I love the Sixers and Embiid, and secondly, I love to target centers against the Brooklyn Nets. It looks like my dream combo today, and it was a no-brainer for me on this one. Instead of going through a bunch of stats, lets keep it simple.
We have six games with no other player over $10K, at any position today. In my opinion, this one should have been priced up a bit more, as every projection you will see today will show that Embiid should easily be the top scorer on the slate. Your cash game lineups should start with Simmons and Embiid today, as stacking the Sixers studs based on their match-up’s and the fact that their game should stay close, looks like the winning recipe for today.
***Value Plays: Dewayne Dedmon – $5,100***
