DeMarcus Cousins could be back soon
The Golden State Warriors are expecting DeMarcus Cousins to return after Christmas. The addition of Boogie could turn the NBA on its head.
The Warriors have won three straight games due to Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson’s offensive prowess, but the addition of Steph Curry back from injury will more than balance the Warriors out. But what could be the tipping point is DeMarcus Cousins returning from injury sooner than expected.
According to The Mercury News, the center reportedly will return from his Achilles injury by December and Warriors staff members are preparing to get the superstar center in peak form.
"Before the meeting, Cousins was hoping to join the lineup during the team’s upcoming five-game trip. There have been no setbacks in the recovery process and the decision to push back Cousins’ target date was made so he can regain his conditioning and enter the lineup at peak form.Cousins is expected to be re-evaluated on his progress Tuesday."
It’s well established that the Warriors when healthy are already tough to deal with. The shooting abilities of Klay and Steph, the scoring abilities of Durant and the Swiss Army Knife abilities on both ends of the court of Draymond Green make the Warriors one of the NBA’s hardest team’s to go 48 minutes with. The addition of a healthy Boogie, though, could take them to another level.
Bad nights happen often in the NBA, and the Warriors are exempt from it. With Cousins, he gives them another superhuman that could exploit a defense focused on limiting their outside shooting. This will only work if Cousins is healthy enough to be the star player he once was. But just his presence on the court could change everything for the Warriors as the regular season rolls on.
