4. Fresno State Bulldogs (MWC) 10-2

It took most of the first half for Fresno State to get their offense going against lowly San Jose State last Saturday. Despite a 65-yard return on the opening kick, the team didn’t score on their opening possession, missing a 44-yard field goal. The team punted four times and lost a fumble on a 30-yard pass play.

The Bulldogs didn’t get on the board until Asa Fuller made a 32-yard field goal with three seconds left in the half.

They had no problems in the second half, however, scoring 28 points to wrap up a 31-13 victory. One of the touchdowns went to KeeSean Johnson, who also had a career-high 173 yards receiving. Johnson set a new school record with 3,390 career receiving yards.

Fresno has a chance to get revenge in the Mountain West Conference championship game this weekend. They travel to Boise to take on the Broncos, who handed the Bulldogs their only conference loss on November 9.

Up next: Saturday at Boise State (MWC Championship).

3. Boise State Broncos (MWC) 10-2

After spending the first few weeks of the season ranked second, the Broncos have ridden a seven-game winning streak to make it back to the top three.

Boise State finished the regular season by taking down Utah State, one of the nation’s hottest teams.

Alexander Mattison and Brett Rypien combined for more than 500 yards of offense for the Broncos. Mattison was a workhorse on the ground, with 37 carries for 200 yards and three touchdowns, while Brett Rypien ripped the Aggies’ defense through the air to the tune of 310 yards and a score.

The win means Boise will host the Mountain West Conference championship game this weekend.

Up next: Saturday vs. Fresno State (MWC Championship).
