2019 NFL Mock Draft: Jaguars select Drew Lock
By Brad Weiss
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers turned back the clock this past Sunday, as quarterback Jameis Winston actually played well, and led the team to a victory. Sure, they were playing the San Francisco 49ers, but it was a key win in terms of his confidence, as they continue to look to see if he is their future at the position.
When it comes to the defensive side of the ball, the Buccaneers are getting older in the secondary, and that is where they should focus their first round pick next April. One player who should be picked in the first half of the first round is DeAndre Baker from Georgia, who is as good as it gets at his position in this draft class.
During his time at Georgia, Baker has helped lead a defense that has become one of the best in the SEC, which is the best conference in college football. He is a very good cover corner, but also has nice hands, and great speed, making him a legitimate first round prospect at the cornerback position.
With the Bucs, Baker would slide right into the starting lineup, and in the NFC South, you need a good secondary if you are ever going to succeed. The division has some of the best quarterbacks in football, and bolstering the secondary may actually help the Buccaneers escape the cellar for once.
