Why do you need another DFS site? Because DRAFT combines the excitement of a season-long draft into one set of games!  This article features auction analysis of the top plays, and pre-draft rankings all set for you to jump into some NBA DRAFT DFS action!

Welcome to the first edition of NBA DRAFT DFS from FantasyCPR, covering auction style drafts on DRAFT.com. This article will cover a few players to target for tonight’s 10-game slate. If you are new to DRAFT or if you are wondering what I am even talking about, check it out here.

I will first go over my targets at each position, and talk a little bit about what their current auction value is, and then I will follow that up with rankings. For future reference, current auction value is something we will talk about quite a bit, so I will refer to it as CAV in the future. Auction values change over the course of the day as news breaks, so I will make each CAV a $5.00 window.

Rosters on DRAFT are 2-G, 2-F, and 1-C, so just five spots. Following the targets and their brief write-up in regards to the slate and their auction value, will by my top-30 overall rankings. These will be the top-6 centers, and top-12 each at the guard and forward positions.

The CAV will follow the rankings so you have a quick reference for auctions, and the rankings will be in order from top to bottom of course, which should have you covered for the tournaments and six-man cash game drafts.

Strategy changes from player to player in auctions, and in snake drafts, you will always want to identify which position may be deeper than the other.

As always if you have any questions in regards to DRAFT, you can reach me on Twitter with the link at the top of the article. Now let’s move on to today’s targets!

NBA DRAFT DFS: Guard Targets: 11/28/18

G – James Harden – Houston Rockets – ($50-55)

Our first target today, is the top projected guard on the slate, and coming off of an 81.1 DP (DRAFT Point) performance against Washington. The Beard and the Rockets will host the Mavericks tonight, and Harden’s projections currently sits at 58.3, giving him the third highest overall projection on the slate.

I am going to write this once today, and the same is true about every target day. If you do auctions, everything is relative to when that player is brought up. For instance. If Harden is the first player brought up in your auction, he will easily cost over half of your salary on a big slate like this. However, if he slips through the cracks and people fill in their roster spots, he could come much cheaper later.

For the purposes of this article, I have done five auctions, and I am taking the averages to get the CAV. I will of course lean-to the higher end of the averages, and come up with rough estimate of what it will cost to land each player in your auctions.

G – Kemba Walker – Charlotte Hornets – ($25-30)

Now let’s talk about the player a bit this time. My favorite guard on the slate not named Harden or Russell Westbrook, is Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker, who is having the best season of his career. Walker is now averaging 44.9 DP per game, and his Hornets will host the Atlanta Hawks, who rallied to beat the Heat last night 115-113 in Miami. I doubt the Hawks will have their legs tonight, and this is a spot Walker could dominate.

In this same match-up in Charlotte on Sunday, Kemba played 34 minutes, and just missed a double-double with 22 points and nine assists. As far as drafts go, guard is super deep today and forward gets pretty thin pretty fast. Walker may slide to late in second round if there is a run on forwards, but I have him slotted as my sixth overall player, and I have no problem taking him as my first guard if I land a top forward with my first pick. In auctions, I have been able to get my fair share of Walker right at $26. In general, this has been comparable to Ben Simmons and surprisingly DeMar Derozan thus far.

G – Ben Simmons – Philadelphia 76ers – ($25-30)

Since the guard position is so stacked today, I am going to choose to give you my three of my top five overall targets at the position, instead of trying to figure out who to sort through at the end. In drafts, you probably will not end up with two of three of these guys, but anything is possible in auctions. Simmons carries the fifth highest projection of all guards at 44.1 currently, and he can also be had in the early part of auctions for about the same price as Walker.

The Sixers will face the Knicks in New York, and before you think blowout here, Philly had to rally past the Nets last time out, and are still trying to bring things together with the new addition of Jimmy Butler. The Knicks played last night as they lost at Detroit, and this will be another road test for this young team no doubt. But nobody really played big minutes aside from Enes Kanter, who played 35. The spread is -12, but I think this game stays closer than that.

NBA DRAFT DFS: Forward Targets: 11/28/18

F – Anthony Davis – New Orleans Pelicans – ($60-65)

Afer missing one game with the hip injury, Davis returned to action against the tough interior defense of the Boston Celtics, and had just another ho-hum 66.7 DP game. Tonight the Pelicans will host the Washington Wizards, who will be missing Dwight Howard once again, and look to have nobody close to being able to stop Davis tonight.

Rightfully so, he is the number one pick in every draft, and along with Giannis Antetokounmpo, will cost you a pretty penny in auctions. In my opinion, when these top two guys get brought up early, it is worth it to snag one at the going rate. We already mentioned that guard is super deep, and there are some less than $5 gems to be had at the end of auctions.

F –  Jimmy Butler – Philadelphia 76ers – ($25-30)

One player I have been trying to target in auctions but keep coming up just short is Jimmy Buckets. I mentioned with Simmons that I like the big three here in Philly tonight, as they will battle with New York on the second leg of a back-to-back. Butler finally exploded with his new team on Sunday against the Nets, as he finished with 62.4 DP, scoring 34 points and grabbing 12 boards.

Butler is all over the board in auctions, as he kind of slots in as a player brought up late, who will fetch probably what ever he needs to with the bid. For example, when he was the 10th name brought up in one auction, he went for $31. However, he was brought up in the second half of another, and someone who help out was able to snag him for $13. There is always one player like this every auction, so make sure you are paying attention to your remaining salary, and more importantly EVERYONE ELSE’S remaining salary. Free advice. Use it!

F – Montrezl Harrell – Los Angeles Clippers – ($15-20)

Harrell is finally getting the big projection today, as he actually sits higher than teammate and starter Tobias Harris. This makes sense to me, because the Clippers will host the Phoenix Suns, and while Harrell already plays 30+ minutes off the bench, he could get even more run in a blowout here. Harrell’s projection at the moment is 41.3 DP, while Harris sits at just 38.8.

Harrell has been a force for the Clips, and continues to notch double-doubles in points and rebounds or coming very close to it at least. He has accomplished that feat in back-to-back games, while also blocking two shots in each as well. In six-man drafts, he is slotting in as a nice second forward in the third round, should you decide to go that route. In auctions, it will depend on when he is brought up, but I have seen $10 on the low-end, and $20 on the high-end.

The talent kind of drops here, so I am making Butler and Harrell a priority today as my #2 forwards. I don’t want to be stuck with question marks like Khris Middleton or TJ Warren on this slate.

NBA DRAFT DFS: Center Targets: 11/28/18

C – Joel Embiid – Philadelphia 76ers – ($45-50)

Without any doubt today, after the two top guards and two top forwards, Embiid is next off the board at five overall in your drafts. I agree 100% with this, as Embiid should absolutely smash tonight against the Knicks. Embiid is averaging 54.43 DP on this season, and he has the fourth overall highest projection tonight at 55.2.

In drafts, first rounder no doubt. In auctions, I am taking a much different approach. Sure Embiid could put up 60+ DP here and could top every center with ease, but with 20 teams in action, the savings on spending down here will help you tremendously at other positions. Embiid is usually one of the top names brought up due to his projection, and he usually goes for right around $50 in this situation. The latest I seen him brought up was 16th, and even in that spot, someone spent what it took to grab him, and that was $39. When I can get this next guy for less than $10 every time, I’ll spend this money to make sure I get AD, The Greek Alphabet, or even The Beard.

C – Karl-Anthony Towns – Minnesota Timberwolves – ($5-10)

While Towns hasn’t had many huge games against the Spurs in his career, I think that could change tonight, now that Towns is the man with Butler out of the picture. Foul trouble was the problem when these teams met back in October, which limited Towns to just 22 minutes. He is now a game removed from his monster 68.6 DP game against the Bulls, as he followed that with a solid 21 point, 10 rebound outing at Cleveland. Now the Wolves return home as 4.5 point favorites, and I figure them to be led by the big Kat if they can cover this spread.

In drafts, center is pretty deep, but I have no issues taking him late second / early third round where possible. I think the floor is safe, and the ceiling is bigger than the next options down the list in my opinion. As far as auctions go, I pretty much summed it up with Embiid. This is easily my favorite overall target in auctions, and I have about 80% at the moment. I have either Davis or Antetokounmpo in all as well, so let’s hope I am reporting back tomorrow with some winnings!

NBA DRAFT DFS: Top 30 Rankings: 11/28/18

My rankings are pretty easy to follow. I have ranked the top 30 overall. Following each player is their DRAFT CAV, which is generated by me, by participating in auctions last night, and early this morning in some cases. Again, we will have the top 12 G’s, 12 F’s and 6 C’s, and here they are!

**The CAV is the Current Auction Value. These are not my projections or what I am spending on these players. This dollar amount is to be used as a guide to get a feel for what these players are currently going for in my auctions. When the CAV’s are absent that means I have not (or maybe once) seen them drafted in a 6-man auction***
