Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Your League
By Dan Gilliam
The last game of the regular season is here, are you ready for the playoffs? If you are in need of some help I am here for you! This is the Waiver Wire week 13 suggestions.
Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups
There were a few key players injured (and one suspension) that will help you for week 13. The 2 QB and Superflex leagues have a few options this week as well. It is the end of the season so you know what that means – it is time to start (well you should have already started) purging your roster for the upside play and getting those handcuff RB’s off the Waiver Wire.
I always talk about a lot of players in my waiver wire articles and week 13 is no different. Some will already be owned, some will be mostly owned and some are for the larger rosters or bigger benches that are available in most leagues. The trick when submitting waiver wire claims is to grab the guy before he goes off or before he has a huge game and becomes that household name. Don’t be the guy that says “Man I wish I grabbed him last week”. At this point in the season, if your bench player is scoring under 8 points a week, think about dumping him for an upside play or RB handcuff. Week 13 is the last week of the regular season before the fantasy football playoffs.
Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups QB-
Baker Mayfield-This guy looks like the next QB star. He seems to get better every week. He has thrown at least 2 TD passes since week 7. The last two weeks he has 3, and 4 last week against Cincy.
Dak Prescott-He looks like a much different quarterback with Amari Cooper and he had a great game against the Redskins last week. The last four weeks Prescott is the #8 QB.
Lamar Jackson-Here comes the rookie! The Ravens have been wanting to play a more mobile QB since they drafted Jackson. They also signed RG3 in the offseason so now that Joe Flacco went down they plugged him in and have won the last two. I think that Jackson keeps the job going forward this year and for the future. He is such a playmaker with a high ceiling. He rushed for 119 yards and 71 yards the last two contests.
Josh Allen-He looks the part and is rushing for more yards than was expected. If you are in a 2 QB or Superflex league he has to be owned.
Jeff Driskell-The 49ers castoff is now the every week starter for the Bengals with Andy Dalton going to IR, ending his season. If you play in the 2 QB or Superflex league and you need a QB, here is your chance!
Cody Kessler-It came out today that Blake Bortles will be benched in favor of Kessler. This is a suggested add just for the multiple starting QB leagues.
Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups RB-
Josh Adams-If he is available spend a good chunk (or all) of your FAAB for him. He is getting a ton of work. He had 22 carries last week.
LeGarrette Blount/Theo Riddick–Kerryon Johnson is considered “week to week” and I like Blount more than Riddick but Theo could be a nice pickup if you are hurting at RB. Blount had 19 carries and 2 TD’s last week.
Carlos Hyde/TJ Yeldon-Leonard Fournette is suspended (for now) one game and that will bump Hyde and Yeldon’s usage.
Nyheim Hines–Marlon Mack is in the concussion protocol and if he misses time Hines is a good play against a bad Dolphins Defense against the run.
Austin Ekeler–Melvin Gordon has a sprained MCL which could sideline him 2-4 weeks and Ekeler is the handcuff. Ekeler played great with Gordon out and scored 26 PPR points last week. If he is in your free agent pool spend the boat on him.
Handcuffs-The time is now to grab your RB handcuffs for the playoffs, and I have them listed here with the starter they back up.
Chase Edmonds (David Johnson)
Malcolm Brown (Todd Gurley)
Jalen Samuels (James Conner)
Spencer Ware (Kareem Hunt)
Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups WR
DJ Moore-If he is available still in your league run, don’t walk to your computer and add him now! The last 2 weeks he has seven and eight catches, 248 yards receiving with a TD.

David Moore-He had a monster game this last week but only 4 receptions. I recommend him in Dynasty and Keeper leagues but not much else.
Adam Humphries-Since week eight he averages 16 PPR points a game. He is not bad to keep on your bench as a flex or WR 3.
Bruce Ellington–Marvin Jones has been put on IR and this should increase the target share for Ellington. He has 6 catches each of the last two games and this could easily be higher moving forward.
TreQuan Smith-He has crazy upside so you need to add him if you have the room. He was out week 12 but week 11 he went off. He caught ten balls for 157 yards and a TD. I want that on my bench all day.
Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups TE
Matt Lacosse-Jeff Heuerman out for the year on IR. He had 3 catches for 34 yards and a TD last week.
Jonnu Smith-The last four games now he has over 10 PPR points. A touchdown 3 of the last 4 weeks.
Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups Defense
Colts (at Jags)-Blake Bortles is being benched for Cody Kessler. Do I need to say more? The Colts have been a solid defense all year and I like them on the road vs the Jaguars with a backup QB and no Leonard Fournette.
Packers (vs Cards)-The rule I follow for streaming defenses is, I look for a rookie QB on the road. Josh Rosen has thrown more interceptions than TDs
The injuries are creating opportunities for the savvy owner in week 13. Make sure you check for these players plus always be diligent when selecting who to add. You may find that someone made a bad mistake and dropped a golden nugget in the free agent pool. Don’t assume a player is unavailable as you may be looking at your league’s transactions page wondering how you missed that potential league winner. Good luck this week.
