NFL Week 13 picks against the spread

It was a week full of winners if you listened to us last week. This week, there are no more byes and some teams could get knocked out of the playoff conversation for good. That makes this a very fun week to be a bettor.

Last week was nuts, but it was the kind of insane that you could see coming. A let down was on the horizon for the Pittsburgh Steelers after so many close calls. Tom Brady looked like his old self against the hapless New York Jets. The Buffalo Bills put the final nail in the Blake Bortles coffin. Hue Jackson was a loser on the field with the Browns again despite getting fired.

Last week was quite predictable, that’s why we had such a good week. A double-digit win week puts us at right about .500 after a rough start. This week, things won’t be so easy.

There are a lot of games in that area of betting that’s near impossible to pick. Anywhere in between four and five and a half point spreads are unpredictable. Clearly, one team is better than the other, but not enough that you’re just picking a winner.

Despite that, as always there are some games in here where you should bet big. There are winners to be had.

New Orleans Saints (-7.5) @ Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have been on absolute fire as of late. Yes, things have been falling their way with an injured Redskins team coming to Dallas on Thanksgiving. They’ve won three games in a row and have a strangle hold on the NFC East. They have a rough stretch ahead, with the Eagles and Colts coming after the New Orleans Saints, but they’ve been playing with the best of them.

However, there’s a good reason why this team is getting more than a touchdown at home. The Saints have been the best team in the league after Week 2. When everyone was questioning Drew Brees and Sean Payton in the first few weeks, they were just getting ready to run away with this league. Since Week 3, the Saints have won all of their games by more than eight points.

That probably tells you how this pick is going to go. The Cowboys have been good, but look at the teams they’ve beaten. If the Cowboys make the playoffs, it’s likely that none of their wins will come against teams in the playoffs. The Saints are in a different league. Even with the craziness that is Thursday Night Football, go with the Saints. Try to put them in a tease to save you the points.
